Saturday, July 8: Tour De Fat with The Naked & Famous at Waterfront Park

Tour de Fat returns this weekend with a new location and slightly different format. The wacky costume bicycle parade is still happening this year, but since the music festival has changed from a free event in Golden Hill to a ticketed event at Waterfront Park, the bicycle parade has changed, too. This year the parade is still free and all ages, it but will meet at Panama 66 in Balboa Park at 2:30pm work down to Waterfront Park.



After the parade, gates to the Tour De Fat Festival open at 4pm.
It is ticketed at $25 a person and is 100% 21+.

4:00 p.m. – Doors Open
4:20 p.m. – FIRE LEOPARD
4:40 p.m. – Fashion Show: Great costumes deserve great admiration. The fashion show is open to all who want to show off their Tour de Fat costume on the catwalk.
5:25 p.m. – The Verigolds
6:25 p.m. – Slow Ride: Race your fellow Tour de Fat-goers in a bike race where the last person to cross the finish line is the winner. The catch: if you put a foot down, you’re out.
6:40 p.m. – Ssssnake
7:00 p.m. – Dance Contest: Here’s your chance to strut your stuff. The winner walks away with a New Belgium cruiser bike!
7:30 p.m. – The Naked and Famous
9:00 p.m. – Adios! (curfew)

Roaming Throughout the Show – The Sputnik Stage: The world’s first satellite stage! A one-of-a-kind, Vaudeville Nouveau-meets-classic melodrama, Tim Burton-meets-Wile E. Coyote, all-American, one-quarter European, contraption-riddled, character-driven, risk-taking, expectation-breaking, circus-infused, standing-ovation-inducing, theatrical extravaganza!

Benefiting: San Diego Bicycle Coalition

The mission of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition is to advocate for and protect the rights of all people who ride bicycles. The organization promotes bicycling as a mainstream, safe, and enjoyable form of transportation and recreation. The funds generated from Tour de Fat support SDCBC in providing free community bicycle education courses to encourage more people to ride in their daily lives and awareness for safe streets and bicycle infrastructure.

San Diego Mountain Bike Association

The mission of the San Diego Mountain Bike Association is to advocate for outdoor recreational access throughout San Diego County, foster respect for the environment and educate trail users in safe and appropriate mountain biking use, provide expert assistance in sustainable trail design, building, and maintenance and work with other trail user groups, land managers, and policy makers to develop fair and responsible policies governing the use of public and private lands. The funds generated from Tour de Fat will allow SDMBA to rise to a new level of member service, communications, and more efficient operations.
