CoViD-19 Camping | Gloria Promises Compassionate Cleanups | Desert Camping: Rangers Warn Of Unprecedented Busy Season |

I am such a liar. We have two adjacent campsites at Sweetwater Summit campground, but as my 'friend' Evan Dando sang, I lied about being the outdoor type. Because I was coming off my vaccine and into menstruation, I've been especially tired and yet can't sleep when I try. We brought Ficus yesterday and she basically stayed in the van the entire time. So for her sake and mine, and since I hadn't been drinking, me and the dog went home and I slept in my comfortable giant warm bed. Or tried. But between the cats and the dog, I was up feeding or letting someone outside or comforting one of them throughout the night. It wasn't until sunup that I actually got any sleep.
Camping is funny. It's fun to be outside but they spent all day feeding kids, separating quarreling siblings. I was home. I didn't actually come back until around 6 and Ficus insisted on coming though now she's been laying in the van for 3 hours. She'll be fine when we move to the tent and Kristian turns of his speaker. I'm a no music in public spaces person, but I guess I'm the minority and don't get a say until 'quiet hours' start in 15 minutes.
While I was home, I caught Jen Psaki's media briefing and of course saw the news that asshole Desmond is using the Convention Center's temporary housing for unaccompanied minor girls for political cheap shots and I'll say more another time but FUCK that guy. Stay safe out there. I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

CoViD-19: California Releases "Resilience Roadmap" & Endorses Statewide Vote By Mail | Local Music News | Phase 2 In Effect

Strawberry, Tikka, Kitty, Monster, Strawbs, Bubba, Babushka
I was trying to fall asleep last night and kept thinking that maybe I should get out of bed and write a happier post so I didn't leave that last one lingering and seething with negativity. Instead, I decided today's post will only be positive even though sometimes the bad stuff just screams out with a louder voice. I can go back to complaining tomorrow ;) California continues to see a modest decline in hospitalization and ICU stays (.6%) though cases continue to rise daily. My house is getting repainted (not surprisingly, without any notice, but keeping it positive so no dwelling on that today) so I was worried my butterfly would be scared away but it was back today so we had a moment this afternoon before Nova and I went for a drive to Harbor Blvd to pick up some fresh ahi from Haworth Fish to make poke bowls at home. It was a little sad to see Spanish Landing empty when normally this weekend would be filled with Gator By The Bay, but I'm certain the state is being proactive enough that those big events will be back by 2021. Lots of new info and State/County/City Health Order clarifications after the jump.

Recap: The In-Ko-Pah 4 Weekend

A few years ago, I was invited to a weird ass festival in Jacumba around the hot springs. The music was cool, but it was mostly high teenagers trying to bum booze, I was laughed at when I checked in for a press pass, and it was unbearably hot and dusty, resulting in us staying for just a few bands and returning home before sunset. If only those people had it half as together as The In-Ko-Pah.

I knew The In-Ko-Pah wasn't at the same location and found an article online to be helpful in giving us some idea where we were going. It was hotter than we expected in the desert this past weekend, and there was music, but that's where the similarities of the two events end. The In-Ko-Pah takes place at The High Desert Tower, a privately owned property in Jacumba, just north of the 8 freeway off exit 77. You know when you go somewhere or do something and you can't believe you never did it before and you kinda kick yourself? That's kinda how I was. I was just in awe the whole time, from the location to the participants to the attendees to the amenities and planning, it was just an incredible experience. I'd heard that the wind was especially brutal last year, so it was probably best that we waited to pop our cherry this year, but still, I can't believe I ever missed it. The In-Ko-Pah was an amazing experience.
