This Saturday night, rockers Portugal. The Man return to San Diego with a show at 4th & B. As you might recall, the band recorded their last record in San Diego at White Horse Recorders and did a private listener concert for KPRI on the Hornblower. This time around, the show is very much public and it would behoove you to check them out. The show is presented by Bring On The Bright Lights and Jagermeister. Hyena will be opening the show. Win A Signed Guitar From Nada Surf!

I have to admit, I was pretty late to the Nada Surf party. I never particularly cared for the song "Popular" and didn't realize the amazing music they made until it was pointed out to me by an ex-boyfriend. We'd stay up till sunrise listening to albums like The Weight Is A Gift and Let Go then delve into the older stuff like High/Low and The Proximity Effect. That guy is long since out of my life, but the band is still one of my favorites and I'm pretty sure that I've been to every show they've played here in the last seven years or so.

Well, the band is coming back to San Diego. Bring On The Bright Lights is proud to host one of only 2 west coast shows taking place the week The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy drops before heading off to Europe for a full tour. This is their first record of original songs since 2008's Lucky, and I can't wait to hear it. (If anyone at Barsuk is reading, please send me an advance!)

Anyway, I know I already posted about this show back in October, but I wanted to tell you about a super cool contest they're doing. One ambitious fan will win an autographed Nada Surf guitar, a signed limited edition screen print, and a copy of the new Nada Surf album out just 4 days before the show. In order to be eligible, you've got to buy a ticket to the show and then help spread the word about the show through your social networks. You can find all the contest information on Facebook.

Bring On The Bright Lights Announce Show with Nada Surf!

I was so excited when I got the news on Friday that the next Bring On The Bright Lights concert will feature one of my all time favorite bands, Nada Surf.

On Jan 28th, Nada Surf will be doing one of two special shows on the west coast (the only other show is in Seattle) to promote their new record which will be released that same week (January 24th). This is their first original album in 4 years so needless to say, superfans like myself have been waiting for this for a long time.

Nada Surf will be joined by The Soft Pack, and 2 other bands TBD. The show will be at 4th and B Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 28th at http://nadasurf2012.eventbrite.com.

To hold you over, you can grab the first track, "When I Was Young" from The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy.

Cut Copy Returns To San Diego: Win Tickets Here

I might be mistaken, but I don't think that Cut Copy has been to San Diego since they played a downtown parking lot for the Red Bull Air Races, which I believe was at least four years ago. Like I said, I could be wrong, but regardless, it has been WAY TOO LONG and they're finally returning. The band is currently on a North American tour which brings them to 4th and B on October 14. This is the first of the Bring On The Bright Lights concert series that will bring top artists back to our fine city. Tickets are $25 for general admission or you can reserve a box for $35/pp. Grab your tickets here or leave a comment on my Facebook Page and let me know you wanna go and I'll pick a winner of a pair of tickets by the end of the week. The show is 21+.
