Photos: Failure @ The Fonda Theatre
Failure reportedly had issues booking their current tour and ended up skipping SD this time around. Luckily our photographer Tim Fears was in Hollywood to capture the space rock legends' incredible performance in this set of photos.

Photos: Savages & Headwound City @ Observatory North Park
Many stated that the Savages show at the Casbah in 2015 was the best show of the year, and knowing how history tends to repeat itself, I'd say their set at the Observatory in North Park lived up to the expectation for the show to beat for 2016.
Super group Headwound City consisting of two seminal local lads Justin Pearson & Gabe Serbian set the stage. Savages mowed us all over with just the right amount of intensity, tight sound, searing looks, minimalist lighting, and crowd interaction. I felt like Goldilocks while Savages tucked me into the perfect musical set... sweet dreams, ladies!

Photos & Video: Casbahmania 2013
One of the best lineups so far this year happened at The Casbah a couple weeks ago with Transfer, The Nervous Wreckords, The Palace Ballroom, and Boy King. All immensely talented bands but also all keeping quite busy. Transfer headed out to support Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in Europe, TNW will be back with a new video next month for "Let Them All Talk" and meanwhile, Brian & the Louis XIV boys reunited to support The Killers also in Europe. The Palace Ballroom has a half-dozen sweet gigs over the next two months and are set to release the new video for their album title track "This Is The Plan" in April. You can catch Boy King this weekend at Seven Grand.
To view all the photos, you can view them at Casbahmania 2013 at Tim Fears Photography. For lots of shows and other photos check out TimFears.com.

Photos: SDDialedIn 6th Anniversary!
Once again, Happy 6th Anniversary to SDDialedIn and we all owe a debt of gratitude to Rosey and her tireless efforts that benefit our local San Diego music scene. It is a rare occasion that I'm at a show where I've never seen or shot any of the bands on the bill, but I'm certainly glad I had the fortune to see these bands that turned out to be a super talented lineup. After the jump are some essential shots of all four bands, or click here for a full gallery.

FYF Fest '12 - Photos: Refused, Quicksand, Sleigh Bells
FYF fest in Los Angeles was quite an impressive event. Although I've never been to Coachella, this is what I imagined it to be like, with multiple stages, vendors, beer garden, VIP tents and over 40 bands & DJs. Even with all of that talent, my primary focus was only on two bands... I'll explain:
Growing up in Chula Vista in the 90's exposed many of us to the hardcore scene with local bands like Amenity, Unbroken, I Wish I, Impel, No Sympathy, and record labels like Vinyl Communications, Revelation and Three One G. The refinement of this sound for me, distilled two seminal bands: Quicksand (NYC) and Refused (Sweden). Both have been dormant for close to 15 years after messy splits.
Suffice it to say, neither of these bands were expected to ever reunite. Refused resurfaced earlier this year at Coachella and Quicksand at the Revelation Records 25th Anniversary show series in Pomona. When I heard that they would both be on this bill, I HAD to be there. You may not recognize me after a facemelt of that magnitude... Enjoy!
