Photos: Savages & Headwound City @ Observatory North Park

Many stated that the Savages show at the Casbah in 2015 was the best show of the year, and knowing how history tends to repeat itself, I'd say their set at the Observatory in North Park lived up to the expectation for the show to beat for 2016.

Super group Headwound City consisting of two seminal local lads Justin Pearson & Gabe Serbian set the stage. Savages mowed us all over with just the right amount of intensity, tight sound, searing looks, minimalist lighting, and crowd interaction. I felt like Goldilocks while Savages tucked me into the perfect musical set... sweet dreams, ladies!

It is truly unfortunate that some bands just don't include San Diego in their tour plans.  Such was the case last Wednesday when the opportunity to see post-rock four piece Savages came with the caveat that attendance would require a trip up to Hollywood and the El Rey to make it happen.  Regardless of the soul crushing rush hour traffic on the 405, it was most definitely worth the drive.  More after the jump...
