VMix Guest Blogger- ME!

A couple weeks ago, I was invited to write a guest blog for VMix, a site where you can create picture slideshows, upload music and video, create an online profile and check out other people's content, too. The company is based in San Diego and has a particularly strong interest in our music scene so I highly recommend checking it out.

I wrote this "essay" last Tuesday, after finding myself a punching bag on the punk board and a day before the Reader published it's "Cool San Diego" issue, though I suppose this fits right in that theme, too. Go check out my guest blog here.

VMix Video: Nurses, Casbah, 4/10/07

Here are a couple songs by Nurses (on the same video):

Prince + Arcade Fire + Danielson + CYHSY + carnies = Nurses?
Again, the embeds don't seem to work, so try here until I hear from the guys at Vmix.

By the way, I know the video sucks, my intent is for you to listen to the video while you do something else...more for listening than watching. If you do watch, you can get some idea of the cocktail consumption by the fact that I tried to record with the camera vertical in the first couple seconds. Yay. I am genius.

VMix Video: Maps & Atlases, Casbah, 4/10/07

Finally uploaded the video from Maps & Atlases:

I believe the song is called "Big Bopper Anthems"
If the embedding does not work,

More Monday News: Vinyl Radio, Insound, VMix

In the ever shuffling of drummers for Vinyl Radio, Dusty, former drummer of Cape May, is going to be joining the band. The band decided he was a better fit and has long been a good friend. After a tour to SXSW, with no bad feelings to Cooper, they felt that Dusty should've been there with them. Buddy Rose (their original drummer) will be playing the Ken Club show on April 6th with Roman Spring, The Sundelles, and the Muslims. Dusty's first show with Vinyl Radio will be April 28th at the Casbah.

Vinyl Radio's music was also used for a commercial for The Village Hat Shoppe. Check it out!

Last thing for now- I still have an InSound coupon for you. Enter coupon code 'good_music_rules' for 10% off your order until 4/9/07. Click the Insound link on the right side of this webpage. Andrea finally took my advice and got her Earlove Earplugs. They're $10 and worth it in every way.
