Photos: Holiday Soiree

I realized I never added these photos from KPRI's Holiday Soiree (11.30.2011). Mostly because I went at the last minute, I didn't have a photo pass or anything, and I was trying to just enjoy the show. Not my best shots ever, but here are a few pics of The Head and the Heart, Mayer Hawthorne, and Fitz & The Tantrums from that night.

KPRI Holiday Soiree: November 30 at Balboa Theatre

It's my favorite time of year when all the local radio stations put together their holiday concerts. I just updated details of FM 94/9's Holiday Hootenanny and I never got around to posting about KPRI's Holiday Soiree. This year their show has moved from Spreckels Theatre to Balboa Theater and features Fitz and the Tantrums, The Head and the Heart, and Mayer Hawthorne. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster and vary in price from around $40 to $113. You can skip the service charges by purchasing at the Concourse Plaza box office (1100 Third Avenue at B street, adjacent to the Civic Theatre).

91X is going to be announcing their Wrex The Hall lineup today at 8:10 am. It's taking place at Valley View Casino Center on December 10th & 11th and I can tell you that it took one quick Pollstar search to see that Airborne Toxic Event will be on the lineup for the first day. We'll know the rest in a couple hours.

Contest: KPRI Holiday Soiree

This weekend has so many holiday events and shows. One that I'm excited about (because it will be a fun bonding night with my mom) is the KPRI Holiday Soiree at Spreckels. The venue is beautiful and makes for a great concert experience regardless of who's playing, but with The Doobie Brothers, Shawn Mullins, and Crystal Bowerbox, this should be a pretty special and rare show.

The music of the Doobie Brothers has been a huge part of the American soundtrack for more than 40 years. Their indelible contributions to the American songbook – from “Listen To The Music” and “China Grove” to “Black Water” and “Long Train Runnin’” – remain as beloved and relevant as ever. But Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee and Mike Hossack are far from resting on those considerable laurels. With the release of their new CD, World Gone Crazy, The Doobie Brothers have added another great chapter to their songbook.
