FM 94/9 Announces Indie Jam for September 9

Just a day after SPF, FM 94/9 made a big concert announcement revealing the lineup for their late summer Indie Jam. It's gonna take place on Saturday, September 9th once again at the Junior Seau Memorial Amphitheatre at Oceanside Pier. This year's show features Portugal. The Man, Misterwives, Sir Sly, Dreamers, Magic Giant and The Wrecks.

General admission tickets are on sale for only $30 (+ fees).
VIP tickets available for just $55 (+ fees).

FM 94/9 Announces Sandy Parts Festival - June 3 at Oceanside Pier

FM 94/9 has announced a new event at the Oceanside Pier. Given the title the Sandy Parts Festival (SPF), the event is taking place on June 3rd with Santigold, The Naked and Famous, Imagine Dragons, and Electric Guest. The show will only set you back $20 (or $25 the week of the show) and the general admission tickets will go on sale this coming Monday.




This event is taking place the same day as 91X's X-Fest and is an interesting way to go head to head with the station. It is my understanding that the two-stage Independence Jam, which normally takes place in the middle of summer at the Oceanside Pier, will instead be held sometime in September.

FM 94/9 Indie Jam In Photos: June 5, 2011

Everyone keeps asking me how Indie Jam was this past Sunday, so here are my photos (finally). I seriously had a blast, every year seems to be better than the last. Despite it being a great time, it's also pretty challenging trying to balance running from stage to stage for photos with trying to still be able to hang out with friends and enjoy the beautiful day and amazing bands. I know, I know- poor me. I'm not complaining, but I did skip shooting some bands because I was running around catching up with friends, chatting with Everest and Surfer Blood and some of the other bands, and trying to enjoy some of the food and libations. It was an incredible day for sure.

FM 94/9 & The Casbah Announce Indie Jam Lineup

This morning FM 94/9 announced the Indie Jam lineup and I cannot tell you how excited I am. This might actually call for a post of the rad interview I did with Surfer Blood but never posted. Guess I'll have to give them boys a call to make sure it's cool. Anyway, here's all the info you need to know:

FM 94/9 Announces Independence Jam Coastal Invasion 2010

So today's the day that FM 94/9 made their big announcement about Independence Jam, which will once again take place at the Oceanside Pier.

FM 94/9 Independence Jam Info

Tickets for Independence Jam went on sale on Monday at noon. According to a Twitter post, over 1000 tickets sold in the first day. It is my understanding that ticket sales have been consistent in which case I'm writing to say that if you wait to buy your tickets, you run the risk of missing out entirely. It is quite possible that tickets will sell out before this weekend.

But last year wasn't sold out, so why this year? According to this, DeVore Stadium's max capacity is 14,000. While I think that is a bit high, I think I remember hearing attendance topped of somewhere around 6,000. This year, however, the show is at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheatre, which according to this, seats only 2,700. Again, I imagine there is some flexibility in numbers as there will probably be a larger area barricaded for the festival beyond just the amphitheatre itself, but the difference in capacity is clear. Bottom line: if you want to see Black Keys, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dead Confederate, and Metric, buy your tickets now.

FM 94/9 Independence Jam Info Leaked?-- CONFIRMED!!

A reader gave a link to this site that supposedly leaks the FM/949 Independence Jam lineup for 2009. The site confirms the show on June 7, 2009, but surprisingly at a new venue this year...The Oceanside Pier amphitheatre. As someone with a car that literally won't start if I drive more that 12 miles in any direction, I can't say I'm enthusiastic about getting up to Oceanside, but hopefully the Coaster will run late or something to accomodate those of us to whom Oceanside might as well be Los Angeles.

Anyway, the lineup confirms Metric, and not surprisingly Dead Confederate, and also includes The Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Black Keys as headliners, along with the local stage presented by The Casbah. According to the site, tickets are $30 flat and go on sale on April 27 at noon...online only.

Real? Probably. But listen to Halloran at 4 pm anyway for the official announcement.

update: it's official: Black Keys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, Dead Conferderate. Locals include Dirty Sweet, Scarlet Symphony, Creepy Creeps, and Apes of Wrath.

FM 94/9 Independence Jam 2009

FM 94/9 just announced via Twitter that their 2009 Independence Jam lineup will be announced on Wednesday. I have no inside information (well, except the Metric news that leaked and then was pulled), but I'd like to make a few guess/suggestions for 2009. If the original information was correct, the show will be on June 7, and we shall assume it will return to DeVore Stadium at Southwestern College.

Metric Announces Tour Dates

I just posted the Metric widget this morning and now I just got word that they'll be supporting the new album Fantasies with a full tour, including a stop in San Diego on June 7th for a little show we call the Independence Jam. Keep that on the DL, won'tcha?

FM 94/9 Independence Jam: The Final Post

It's pretty pathetic that I never got around to posting the last of my pics from Independence Jam, but things came up. I don't have much more to say about the show, except that it was awesome. I really appreciated the bands a lot, even Flogging Molly, despite them falling just outside of the boundary of what I normally like. In fact, it was pretty fun in that photo pit with bodies flying over me, and one of the guards asking me if I could take a picture with his camera phone since he wasn't allowed to turn around and watch the band at all. The VIP section was cool, the beer gardens were nice, the field was perfect, and the bands kicked ass. I was not only happy to live where I do, but it made me proud to be a San Diegan.

After the show, I caught a ride with Jake to the Casbah where it was loud and crowded. I watched The Sess, but by the time Firewater was playing, I ran into Abraham and heard from a guy I met when MgmT played the Casbah, so we decided to go meet the band at their hotel with the instructions "Bring whiskey and smokes." Done and done. Abraham and I went to their hotel, security drove us on their golf cart to their room, but when we got there, there were just a couple guys they brought on the road. A few minutes later, they showed up with Erika (U-31) and a couple girls so we chilled out and had a couple beers. Really though, everyone was so tired, so we left as Andrew crawled into bed. Super nice guys. When they were on TV the next night...Craig Ferguson, I think, all I could think was, "I've seen him in his chones." Funny.
