I know I didn't post much on Thursday, but I'm really trying to just take in all the fun and snap a ton of photos that I can post later. The Wired Party at the Omni is back this year and while last year they cut back to just one day, this year they're back to three days. DJ Artistic plays the perfect mix of music, the drinks flow generously, and everyone swarms to the hot tray line when they bring out chicken fingers. So this little dance-off broke out with 11 year old actor Miles Brown (aka Little Boogaloo). I regret that I don't know the other kids--whether they're friends or siblings, but apparently Miles' dad is WildChild of Lootpack. When Art played their jam, apparently that was enough to get the kids going. And it was awesome.

Things To Do In San Diego: Thursday, July 20-Sunday, July 23, 2017
I promised I would try to update the listings daily, so here ya go. Preview night was awesome. Pyles and I arrived a little after 3pm and had no trouble parking. We went into Mission Brewery for "a beer or two" but then found out the beer we were drinking "hoppy pilsner" was only $2. So we ordered more, but then the keg blew, so we switched it up, then we ran into Gabriel from Digital Lizards of Doom, he ordered us another round and then settled our whole tab! Super nice. And then the Jet Pack Man did a demo outside (blowing spent beer grain into everyone's eyes). By the time we finally made our way to the Convention Center, I had a nice little buzz, we quickly procured our badges, and then wandered the floor. Pyles always goes off on his own, so I had fun slowly perusing the aisles, buying some things for the girls, taking the time to read books or look at art. It's always good to see local artists, like my friend and Casbah co-worker Ted Washington at his Puna Press booth. Swing by and say hi and check out his amazing art. Archived listings are after the jump.

Things To Do In San Diego: Wednesday, July 19, 2017
Oh, man. Getting to finally see Natalie Merchant for the first time in my life was pretty magical. Despite having a sinus infection, she sounded amazing, showed herself to be funny and warm to her audience, and played a two and a half hour show. I was crying by the second song, in case you were wondering. So Comic-Con is here and I'm trying to make every minute count before Pyles comes and picks me up and we begin Con ambush. I'm looking forward to seeing all of the outside activations, walking the floor a bit, the return of three days at the Omni for the Wired Party, and this year is really special because this person I know from a million lifetimes ago, Michael Cerveris, is in the cast of The Tick, which should have a pretty huge presence at Con, so hopefully I get to bump into him for at least a minute to say hi. Wednesday archives are after the jump.
