Nova at open skate at Derby United (7.28.2020)

Well, I told you on Monday that I was feeling revitalized and rejuvenated after a weekend (mostly) without my laptop working. I'm so happy with all the changes we've made on our deck and our studio and the backyard, and we (finally) sucked it up and bought a weed whacker so Darren went to town on the yard and it looks fantastic. It would be awesome if we had a lush green lawn, but I think it's impossible in Normal Heights. We had a fun night in the speakeasy and after a disagreement about the necessity of holding onto CDs, I dove into some of my 90s and early 2000s CDs and rocked out to make my point. I spent the majority of Tuesday sitting on our balcony, enjoying the sun and so glad we're finally taking advantage of this underutilized space instead of just storage and one singular chair. I was definitely having one of those days where every time I tried to start working or check Facebook or get through email, I would last about 3 minutes before I'd have to shut it down. So it pretty much took all day and night to get through all the things. We did get to take Nova to Derby United, the new name for the new facility and organization fka Derby Dolls San Diego and she had a blast on skates. The facility is completely outdoors and everyone has to wear masks the entire time they're on grounds with no more than 15 people allowed per session, so it felt really, really safe. I wish I could say the same about her soccer, which seems to be dropping their standards pretty quickly. , so  the Today's news (and catching up with the weekend), after the jump.

KAABOO 2020 On Sale Now: Moves To Petco Park

KAABOO 2019 was sold out and is in the books and from my IG feed, looks like everyone had a great time despite San Diego being in the high 80s and low 90s alll weekend. Following up, KAABOO has already announced 2020 dates--September 18-20, 2020 and has super early-bird Hang Loose passes on sale for $199. But the biggest news is that the festival will be ditching Del Mar Fairgrounds and heading to Petco Park. I'm sure all kinds of people have all kinds of feelings about that, but with the numerous options for public transit to downtown, to me this would definitely make me more inclined to forget my festival aversion and jump on the KAABOO bandwagon. To be seen. I mean, I have a year to figure it out. In the meantime, 2020 tickets are available here

KAABOO 2019 Lineup

KAABOO announced their 2019 lineup last Thursday and I'm barely getting around to posting it. What can I say? I've been busy.

KAABOO has sold out for the past couple years and the internet gets flooded with fake tickets, so if you wanna go, you should suck it up and buy your tickets sooner rather than later. KAABOO takes place September 13-15 at Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Tickets are available at KAABOODelMar.com.

KAABOO Lineup 2017

I know I'm really, really slow on the draw on KAABOO, which was announced two weeks ago, but I was so busy reading everyone's comments about the event (snicker, snicker) that I never had the chance to actually post about it. And I'm gonna stay neutral on this. As an old friend reminded me, Candlebox and Counting Crows were my most listened to records my senior year of high school, so while I'd like to think I'm an uber-cool indie music snob, I'm not, and there are as many bands on the lineup that I'd be cool with seeing as not cool with seeing. In fact, I've seen 20+ of these bands in my lifetime already. I'm just not willing to drop $250 or whatever to be a part of it, but I'm certainly not gonna knock you if you do. Get all the info and ticket pricing, festival restrictions, and more here.

KAABOO 2016 Offers VIP & Festival Packages

I went to dozens, if not hundreds of shows this year, but there were some events that I completely missed out on. I can't say I completely regret it because having Nova nearly full time has been amazing, but I can't say there isn't a little part of this music blogger that knows I kinda missed out, especially on the inaugural KAABOO at Del Mar, even more so after I found out many of my friends were given the royal treatment throughout the weekend. It seems crazy that the first wave of acts are going to be announced this week, but apparently that is the case. In the meantime, KAABOO is already selling VIP and full festival packages.

Update: First acts have been announced: Jack Johnson, The Avett Brothers, Goo Goo Dolls, Jason Isbell (Drive-by Truckers), Gavin DeGraw, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, The Green. Comedy: Janeane Garafolo, Rachel Bloom. (Source: U-T)
