Some Random Notes

In the past couple weeks I've added some links on my sidebar that I thought I should point out.

First, Bart Mendoza has a great site with some great local music information on it.
Check out My Week In Music Magazine.

I also added Brooke's blog a couple weeks ago. Brooke works in radio so she gets some opportunities behind the scenes that make her site a fun read. Check out This Rain Delay.

Stephen Kallao is back on local radio, taking over the airwaves on Sophie 103.7 on weekends. He's also launched his photography site, Whatever Kallao.

Another site popped up recently and it covers all my favorite parts of San Diego. Check out SD Urban.

Last, even though I no longer work in Downtown, the development of the area is still something I pay a lot of attention to. This guy is in the real estate industry, so perhaps skews a different opinion than my own when it comes to development, but he's got a lot of great information, especially in regards to inner workings of the CCDC (Center City Development Corp). Read Urban Living 92101.

As I said, all of these sites are linked in my sidebar. And, a little pride after the jump.

Johanna is crawling! My niece is a speed demon these days.

Newsy Bits: Red Pony Clock, ReelMandy, Hillcrest, Send Chris Young to Allstar Game

From MySpace:

Red Pony Clock needs a drummer for their upcoming tour. Come on... don't wuss out, Mr. Drummer Man (or Ms. Drummer Girl).::::: contact www.myspace.com/redponyclock ::::::::::

Well, the trip is only 17 days away. But if anyone's interested, red pony clock would still love to have a drummer on our 6 week tour. Those of you who said, "I could ask my friend, but I'm sure they'll find someone." We haven't, so please go ahead and ask your friend.

It's amazing how many people have thought it was okay to string us along forever, going so far as learning a set, only to back out and leave us high and dry. The darkness of the human soul just blows my mind.

We are fun people going on a fun trip around the funnest country in the world!! We will fly someone in, if they're willing to do some work at home beforehand. We don't need you to be the greatest drummer in the world. Just keep the beat and have fun. A percussionist or snare drum player would work just fine.

Is there really noone out there that can do this?

Gabe

VMix Guest Blogger- ME!

A couple weeks ago, I was invited to write a guest blog for VMix, a site where you can create picture slideshows, upload music and video, create an online profile and check out other people's content, too. The company is based in San Diego and has a particularly strong interest in our music scene so I highly recommend checking it out.

I wrote this "essay" last Tuesday, after finding myself a punching bag on the punk board and a day before the Reader published it's "Cool San Diego" issue, though I suppose this fits right in that theme, too. Go check out my guest blog here.

Smashing Pumpkins Lineup Determined?

I just wanna say quickly that I love the amount of San Diego blogs, new and old, that are here to help me get through the day. Check out the links on the right for CatDirtSez, ChickRawker, SoundSoundSound, Baby Heisman, et al. not only for their coverage on the local scene, but because we all have our different favorite blogs and news sources, so its just more eyes and ears out with feelers on all the time.

Today's gold star goes to
Opening Band for finding info on the Smashing Pumpkins lineup for the tour this year. Since I don't really give a shit about SP, I'll make you go to his site for the info.

Anyone remember the Smashing Pumpkins show at SOMA? Was that 1995? 96?
