Things To Do In San Diego: Thursday, June 8-Sunday, June 11, 2017

I've hardly been outside this week. I recovered from camping but between working, reading, writing, and sleeping super odd ours of the day, I haven't caught any shows this week. In fact, I have barely left the house besides a fun morning hike at Mission Trails and a trip to the library to get more books. Part of that is because this is going to be a huge weekend. I'll be working for RFTC all day Friday at Oysterfest, Saturday we've got a birthday party and I'll be working for Earthless at the Casbah, and Sunday should be a marathon of music, which also means I've got to get next week's listings done earlier than usual plus some posts I've been researching and will try to get out soon. Yikes. This week in San Diego has been interesting, between Monday's Council meeting and Wednesday's brawl at the Observatory, it's easy to go down the news rabbit hole, but I promise I'll get out today and hopefully make it to check The Overcoats tonight. Thursday through Sunday archives are after the jump.
Soccer season ended on Sunday. Gonna miss these girls, but we've surrendered and will be coaching this fall.

This Weekend: Oysterfest 2017 at Embarcadero Marina Park North

This weekend is Oysterfest at Embarcadero Marina Park North . Tickets are still available for purchase here or you might still be able to grab them on Goldstar with a quick search. I'm pretty impressed this year because I really dig the way the lineups are separated. While there's certainly some crossover interest, for the most part, the people I know who love the Friday lineup wouldn't touch the Saturday one and vice versa, and that's just fine. Both seem to offer pretty robust and diverse music options, and to be perfectly honest, most of the time you're going to be perusing the variety of oyster options and finding the beer and booze lines anyway. I predict this June gloom will clear in a day or two and you can count on perfect weather for this super fun annual event.
Pro-tip: Take a significant amount of cash with you for the vendors. The on-site ATMs are a total rip.

Things To Do in San Diego: Monday, June 5- Wednesday, June 7, 2017

I am exhausted. If you need to reach me today, send telepathic messages through my dreams because I have some sleeping to catch up on. The In-Ko-Pah 4 was beyond what I could've imagined and I look forward to telling you all about it, plus we had Nova's final soccer game of the season, and I worked at the Irenic on Sunday night, but for now, let me just get this week's events posted for you and I'll fill you in on the other good stuff later this week. Monday through Wednesday archives are after the jump.

Oysterfest 2017 Drops Lineup- June 9 & 10, 2017

Oysterfest is back for the 7th year and just dropped a doozy of a lineup, mostly because of Ghostland Observatory and homegrown legends Rocket From The Crypt, but there are plenty of other local favorites to consider opening up those wallets to buy tickets to the event. It takes place on June 9 & 10 and is a strictly 21+ event at Embarcadero Marina Park North. For full info and ticket info, click here.

Full weekend lineup includes: Matisyahu, Ghostland Observatory, Magic!, Rocket From The Crypt, Dam Funk, The Shelters, Vokab Company, Dance Yourself Clean, Josh Heinrichs, The Verigolds, Janelle Phillips.

The spiel:
The 7th Annual San Diego Oysterfest brings an amazing live music performance to the beautiful bayside setting of Marina Embarcadero North. The mixture of a music festival featuring national and local acts and an oyster festival featuring oysters from a variety of oyster farms throughout the shores of America creates a stimulating effect on the festival goers. Throw some beer, wine and/or alcohol on all of that and you end up with memorable moments to talk about at the water cooler on Monday.

Alternate art after the jump.
