I have to say it was a very, very good week. I posted that really long diary post a few days ago, but I'd rather not get so backlogged and since I'm awake and somewhat alert and avoiding my inbox, I feel like sharing.
I feel like my vocabulary is so limited these days. Amazing and epic and great and beautiful and exciting seem to be so overused in my posts lately, but when I think about how I was a year ago, dealing with my eviction and moving, I was a total mess, completely depressed, and living in a constant state of anxiety. I was binge-living. Binge eating and binge drinking and binge sleeping and binge working. It wasn't pretty. Since then, work fell into a better place with a Casbah promotion, regular site sponsorships, and it turned out that my eviction was a total bonus because I'm so much happier in my current location than I was in Kensington. And of course, Darren. There's something pretty amazing about meeting someone who is my partner in every way- supportive and kind and loving and funny and smart and an incredible dad and generous boyfriend and no offense to anyone who came before, but this love is completely unprecedented in my life. After 8 months, none of the glow has worn off. Read the post after the jump.

Rosey's Diary: November 11-15, 2011
I wrote briefly about Monday's show at the Soda Bar with Joshua James, Desert Noises, and Honeyhoney, but last night I woke up in the midst of a dream turned panic attack and I realized I wanted to write about the awesome weekend to settle my nerves about a bunch of the other bullshit that is swirling in my brain at the moment. So let me just rewind a bit, for my own therapy. This one is gonna be really long, so read after the jump if you feel so inclined.

Sunday: San Diego Invades Austin SXSW Meetup @ URBN North Park, Noon

I'll be at URBN North Park having a sausage and pepper pizza and washing it down with some tasty craft beer as my BFF Kristian (pictured with my niece, Johanna) works the bar. Come hang out. We can coordinate schedules, talk about shows, figure out who is playing and where and really try to represent SD as one beautiful solid cohesive music scene and make all those other cities jealous. Seattle? Where's that? Brooklyn? Pffft. Chicago? Whatchu got??

Now Open: URBN Coal Fired Pizza North Park
On Monday, URBN North Park finally opened their doors and I couldn't be happier. My BFF (and occasional sddialedin contributor) Kristian was hired as a bartender so I decided to pay him a visit on Wednesday night. Much like Bar Basic, the place has an open floor plan with a modern yet warm feel. The brick walls and organic textures lend this to being quite a hangout. I love Blind Lady Alehouse and I think there's enough demand in the area that both places will thrive with their great pizzas and beers. In fact, I saw a BLAH cook at URBN while I was there...it's just another spot where friends and families can congregate.

The pizzas at URBN are for sharing and can feed 2-3 people, or one very hungry person. The prices are reasonable ($15 for my mashed potato with pancetta pizza from the specialty menu) or you can order a plain pie and add toppings as you wish. There's also a great beer and wine selection, with a good range of prices so you can have a tasty glass or an expensive bottle depending on your tastes.

I'm a fan of Bar Basic, but I really don't spend a lot of time downtown, so my visits are few and far between. With the similar layout and menu of URBN, I'm sure I'll be back often. Kristian wanted me to note that families are always welcome and that they serve food until close. If you order a pizza after 1:30 am, you have to take it to go, but you can order right up until 1:59 on weekends, which makes it a good alternative to all those late night taco joints.
URBN is locatedat 3085 University, across the street from U-31.
URBN is open Sun-Wed 5pm - Midnight and Thursday-Saturday from 5pm-2am
You can follow the bar on twitter @URBN_NP, text URBN to 91944 for specials, deals, and info, or check out their website here.
