Summer Concerts In The Parks Line-Ups Roll Out For 2017

We pay a hefty sunshine tax in our rents, sales taxes, and general cost of living here in San Diego, but that's all the more reason to love the free events offered every summer. Besides amazing street fairs like Adams Avenue Street Fair, Festival of Arts in North ParkFiesta del Sol, (to name just a few), we also get a ton of "Concerts In The Park".  Many of San Diego's parks have already rolled out their summer series, and I'll do my best to update the one who haven't when they finally get around to it. Every year I fail to include these in my listings because they're a total pain in the ass to hunt down, but I'm an insomniac, so this year I've at least put this together. Note: Street Fairs and other annual events can be found here. Let me know if I missed anything!! (Find them all after the jump. Click the park links for parking, park rules, and any other special event info.)

FM 94/9 Announces Free Show with Milky Chancy & X-Ambassadors @ Quartyard 8/3

FM 94/9 ANNOUNCES FREE DOWNTOWN CONCERT
MILKY CHANCE AND X-AMBASSADORS SET FOR AUGUST 3RD PERFORMANCE

San Diego, CA: San Diego’s #1 Alternative Station, FM 94/9 (KBZT FM) has announced information on the latest installment of the Loud@ free concert series, featuring Milky Chance and X-Ambassadors.

The two bands will perform a free, all ages show at downtown San Diego’s Quartyard on Monday, August 3rd at noon, sponsored by Shock Top.

“One thing our listeners know about FM 94/9, is that we’re about the music, and our Loud@ series is one more way we prove it,” said Music Director, Assistant Program Director and afternoon host Jeremy Pritchard, “The fact we can bring these shows to our listeners, not for $10 or $5, but for free, is really important to us.”

The series has recently featured bands like Passion Pit, Grouplove, Spoon, Alt-J, Foster the People, Twenty One Pilots and Arctic Monkeys at various venues around San Diego.

“We know it’s expensive to see all your favorite bands every time they come to town,” said midday host Hilary Chambers “The fact we can do our part to help out and bring them great shows like Milky Chance and X-Ambassadors for free is amazing.”

More information about the Loud@ series, including videos and pictures of previous concerts can be found on the station’s website at www.fm949sd.com.

About FM 94/9: Owned and operated by Lincoln Financial Media San Diego, KBZT is San Diego’s highest rated Alternative Rock station and was named San Diego City Beat magazine’s Best Local Station in 2014.

America's Cup Racing Series Kicks Off In San Diego

Penalty!
I'm at the America's Cup Village at the moment. I scored press credentials which means that I might hang out here during the week for a change of scenery while I take advantage of their wi-fi and learn a thing or two about racing. sailing. catamaraning. I dunno...maybe I'll pick up the lingo while I'm here. I'm also going to strategically sat by some Spanish media guys. I love hearing castellano.

I ran into Halloran and met the stage managers and they told me the listings had been updated but it appears that the site still has the vague spaceholders for the Battle of the Bands slots. They told me that Abandon The Raft, Illuminauts, Black Hondo, and one more qualified- the name escapes me now-but they didn't tell me what order they qualified. I heard Jamuel Saxon is playing on Friday, too, but I don't know what time. So yeah, I'm not very useful right now but thought I'd update what I know since I'm here now. I changed the link to the banner ad at the top of my site, so you should be able to get those updates when the ladies post from the office.
