91X Announces X-FEST 2016: Cheap Trick, The Offspring and many more

91X has announced the lineup for X-Fest 2016.

The all ages event will take place on June 5, 2016 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre.

TO PLAY ANNUAL 91X SUMMER FESTIVAL.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Local radio station 91X announced the line-up of performers at 91X X-Fest, happening Sunday, June 5 at Sleep Train Amphitheater.

2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick will co-headline with the Offspring.   Plus Iration, Kongos, Wolfmother, Chevy Metal, The Shelters, SWMRS, The Frights, Grace Mitchell, and The Young Wild rounding out the bill.

X-Fest tickets are on-sale at 10:00 AM today to listeners registered with 91X’s e-mail and texting lists.  Tickets go on-sale to the public Friday at 10:00 AM.

“The first X-Fest was XXXIII years ago with Tom Petty, the Ramones, Stray Cats, Modern English, and Bow Wow Wow ” said Halloran, 91X Program Director.  “2016 will prove to be legendary too.  I am looking forward to seeing the legendary Cheap Trick, and the future local legends all in one day at one venue. This is what 91X is all about…”

A week ago today, Darren and I were running errands trying to get our butts in gear to get to X-Fest at a reasonable time. Unfortunately some things just can't be avoided and we got there as Atlas Genius was finishing. I didn't have a photo pass- which was actually a good thing because they have a weird policy of sequestering photographers after the first three songs of each set so they don't take photos- meaning they're sitting alone in a box for the majority of the day. I did manage a few photos throughout the day and figured it was about time my posts were more than just listings and Observatory and Casbah shows. I have to say this was maybe my favorite X-Fest of all time and Public Enemy was the best I'd ever seen them. All the pics are after the jump.

Arcade Fire Announce Reflektor Tour- Date Set For Sleep Train Amphitheatre 8/5/2014

Today was a day of lots of concert announcements. Because of Coachella, a lot of acts have to keep their summer plans mum until after the desert debauchery is done, so with that in mind, today Arcade Fire announced a San Diego tour date on August 5, with tickets on sale Friday, April 25 at 10am.  FM 94/9 is presenting the show and will have tickets to give away on air, a presale password, and presumably tickets at their Random Acts of Kindness stops.

Way to steal our thunder, AF.

91X Announces X-Fest Additions Foster The People, MS MR, Capital Cities

Here's the updated lineup for X-Fest, with previously unannounced bands Foster The People, MS MR, and Capital Cities. The show is Friday, May 30 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. Get tickets here. More info from 91X below.

San Diego's 91X announced today the three remaining bands on the X-Fest concert line-up that had yet to be announced.

Foster the People will co-headline the concert with 311 on May 30 at Sleep Train Amphitheater, with Capital Cities and Ms Mr rounding out the 12 band festival line-up, with Panic! At The Disco, Iration, Phantogram, Bleachers, Kongos, Skaters, Cherub, and Sir Sly.

Sorry, kids. Got this email on Monday but haven't had a breather to post until now. As the release states, 3 more bands will be announced on April 21. Coachella ends on April 20, which certainly leads one to suspect that the three bands are Coachella acts, which really doesn't reveal much but can at least be interesting in getting your hopes up.  

91X REVEALS EARLY DETAILS FOR ANNUAL X-FEST CONCERT FESTIVAL.

SAN DIEGO, CA – San Diego's alternative rock station 91X officially announced this year’s “91X X-Fest,” happening Friday, May 30 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. Performing artists include 311, Panic! At The Disco, Iration, Phantogram, Bleachers, Kongos, Skaters, Cherub, and Sir Sly.

A total of 12 bands will pack the final line-up. The remaining three bands on the bill, including a co-headlining act, will be announced on Monday, April 21.

X-Fest tickets go on-sale to the public this Friday at 10:00 AM. Listeners who signed up at 91x.com have the first opportunity to buy pre-sale tickets on-line starting today, including a limited number of tickets in section 300 for $9.91. The 91X Internet pre-sale continues until 11:59 PM Thursday night.

“The 91X team is really excited for X-fest 2014, especially because so many of the bands are fresh, up and coming talent,” said 91X Program Director Christy Taylor. “But, of course, 91X will never forget our past, and this concert is the perfect mix of what makes 91X and X-Fest staples of San Diego.”

There was a time when I'd sit at my desk in my office and just pounce on new news related to San Diego or music or festivals. Perhaps I just figure everyone has the same information at their fingertips or perhaps I've lost my edge or maybe I've just been finger-wagged too many times for posting things prematurely that I just don't feel that urgency to be first or break stories.
