Del Mar Race Track Announces Summer Concert Series

It feels like the San Diego County Fair just kicked off, but as soon as it wraps up on July 4, it is time to usher in the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's 2012 racing season. This also means that the Del Mar Summer Concert Series will be back and this year with 12 different shows, more concerts than they've ever had before in one season. Here are the goods for this year's bro-heavy series:

7/20: Wavves
7/27: Dashboard Confessional
7/29: Tucanes De Tijuana
8/3: Steel Pulse
8/4: Cake
8/10: The Offspring
8/17: Michael Franti & Spearhead
8/18: Ben Harper
8/24: Jimmy Cliff
8/31: Ozomatli
9/1: REGGAE FESTIVAL FEATURING ZIGGY MARLEY PLUS BEER FEST
9/5: Party in the Paddock w/ TBD

All concerts will be held at the Seaside Stage. The improved venue offers better sight lines, the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop and better access to concert-goer services and amenities.

All 12 performances of the Del Mar Summer Concert Series are free for fans attending the races. The Seaside Stage is a non-smoking venue. For Friday shows, as is the case with attending the races, patrons under 18-years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Following the last race, concert prices are $20. No reserved seats, standing room only so get here early. Concert starts after the races.

Patton Oswalt Live In San Diego To Kick Off Comic-Con, Tickets Onsale Today at 10am

I am trying to catch up with email and I really wanted to post about this earlier this week, but never had the chance. I love Patton Oswalt and seeing comedy shows at Spreckels is actually better than seeing a concert there, in my opinion. Full press release is after the jump.

Face To Face Add 2nd Acoustic Show at the Casbah, 4.15.2012

On Sunday, April 15, Face to Face will be performing their seminal album, Ignorance Is Bliss at the Casbah. Due to the strong demand and quick sell out of this all-acoustic show, the band has added a second show.

This is important!! If you have tickets to the first show, doors will be at 8:30pm and the show will start promptly at 9pm.

If you would like to attend the second show, tickets are on sale now. Doors will be at 10:30 pm with the show starting promptly at 11pm.

Mutemath Announce 2012 Tourdates & VIP Packages

Photo Credit: Claire Vogel, Courtesy WBR
Web analytics used to be top-secret. You never really knew how anyone else was doing and you'd hear hype from all corners that made everything sound like it was the most amazing thing ever. With recent integrations, like Slacker and Spotify linking directly to Facebook walls, it is easy to see when something is reaching a fever pitch. Lately, it seems, at least among the people I pay attention to on Twitter and Facebook, that everyone has been listening to the new Mutemath record, Odd Soul, and going absolutely bonkers for it. With that in mind, the band has just announced tour dates for 2012, including a February 3rd stop at 4th & B and they're offering exclusive VIP merch and ticket packages starting today.

An Odd Soul VIP Package for the 2012 tour dates will go on sale at 10 a.m. local time today at http://mutemath.artistarena.com/. For $75, purchasers will receive:
  • 1 general admission ticket to the Odd Soul Tour
  • 1 gatefold vinyl copy of Odd Soul (previously unavailable) + a CD copy
  • 1 Odd Soul Tour t-shirt (with tour dates on back)
  • 1 "first in line" pass guaranteeing early entrance to any show on the tour
  • 1 high-quality MP3 copy of Odd Soul to be delivered as a digital download
  • 1 Odd Soul instrumental album to be delivered as a digital download (available for the first time in this package)
  • 1 Making Of the "Blood Pressure" music video to be delivered as a digital download (available for the first time in this package)
Only limited quantities of the VIP package will be available so fans are encouraged to act fast.

Full tour dates after the jump.

Tom Petty Rescheduled Show Is A Go

Tom Petty was supposed to perform at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater on Tuesday, September 28. The show was postponed, however, because Tom was suffering from bronchitis and sinusitis. He's been cleared by his doctors to perform, so the new show will be on Tuesday, October 5. All tickets for the original date will be honored. Though ZZ Top had been opening the tour, the rescheduled date will instead feature Los Lobos in the opening slot. For the full press release, click 'keep on reading'

LOS LOBOS WILL APPEAR WITH TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS AT
CRICKET WIRELESS AMPHITHEATRE ON OCTOBER 5

San Diego, CA (October 1) – Celebrated rock band LOS LOBOS will appear as Special Guest on the TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS show at CRICKET WIRELESS AMPHITHEATRE on Tuesday October 5. Los Lobos replaces ZZ Top who is unavailable for the rescheduled show due to prior tour commitments in Europe.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre appearance is the second to last show on their Mojo Tour 2010. Tom Petty, who was unable to perform on the show’s previous date of September 28 due to sinusitis and bronchitis said, “I am feeling better and looking forward to our show in San Diego. Thank you to everyone for being so patient and my apologies for the inconvenience.”

More than three decades have passed since Los Lobos released their debut album, Just Another Band from East L.A and since then Los Lobos has consistently evolved artistically while never losing sight of their humble roots. They have just released Tin Can Trust on Shout Factory Records, their first collection of new original material in four years.

Tickets for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers with Special Guest Los Lobos at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre on October 5 are currently available now at http://www.livenation.com. Tickets for previously scheduled San Diego dates will be honored on October 5.

MGMT Set To Play Open Air Theatre July 15

MGMT's sophomore release, Congratulations, was recently released to both adoring and repulsed reviews. Personally, the record is exactly what I expected from the pair, kinda out there. It's been growing on me, but for a band that created their own niche in modern music, most critics had higher expectations of the band. Regardless, for those of us who are still fans, the band has added several dates to their tour, including a stop at the Open Air Theatre at SDSU. Tickets go onsale on Friday through Ticketmaster.

SCMX: SoCo Music Experience Full Lineup Announced

I've been insanely busy these past couple weeks, so thanks to Xavie for the head's up on the announcement. Below is the lineup for SCMX, taking place at Tailgate Lot adjacent Petco Park, on August 23, 2008. It feels like SCMX is covering more genres that are perhaps absent on this year's Street Scene lineup, which is taking place in the same area a little less than a month later. I think both events will be quite spectacular.
