| Posting one of me and the kid from a few weeks ago, because I can't wait to take her on her first camping trip ever. |
There was a time in my life when I loved camping. With my family, it meant loading up our camper, going to a campsite, my dad with his little TV inside our camper, the kids roaming around, mom doing the grill or the stove inside our camper, and just having total freedom. In my early twenties, I had a group of friends who did an annual trip and it was always awesome, though they kinda took care of everything and I kinda did nothing but hang out, drink, eat, hike, and enjoy the weekends. That sorta fell apart when our glue, Mikey, died of cancer and the rest of us lost touch. These days, I love roadtrips, I love getting out of town (even though inevitably our dog will pee on the bed for Elliott, who so kindly looks after her) but we three have never camped together. So of course, today we went to four stores (Big Lots, Harbor Freight, Sprouts, Vons), and still need more stuff with a CostCo run in the morning. On top of that, we have soccer and I have work on Sunday when we return, so I stayed up all night watching my shows (Vice, Real Time, Chelsea) while I plotted out next week's listings for Monday posting. And when I thought, maybe I should drink the camping beer while I work, I was strong and resisted. As a compromise, I popped a bottle of cheap chardonnay I had chilling for months and got my shit handled. Because that's how I roll. I'll be mostly off the grid while at In-Ko-Pah, so have a great weekend, and catch ya on the flip. Saturday and Sunday archives are after the jump.
