Street Scene Leak

Photobucket

I wasn't online much today so sorry for the "we already know" information, but if you are one of two people who haven't heard, Dead Weather, a "supergroup" consisting of Jack White, Allison Mosshart of The Kills, Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs, and QOTSA's Dean Fertita have announced tour dates. Street Scene is included in those listings. So there ya go, already a reason to buy the presale tickets when you can. Sign up for the email newsletter here and you'll be notified when the presale takes place. Remember, the presale happens before the lineup is announced, so take your chances, but also remember, that the ticket prices increase significantly after the lineup is announced.

Street Scene is taking place August 28 & 29, 2009.

Whites Stipes Show Moved To Coors Amphitheater

This is for Travis and I'm sorry that I didn't write about this sooner; I just figured it was well covered enough via other media. But yes, the White Stripes show that was supposed to happen at Viejas Concerts By The Bay on Sepember 18 is now on the same date at Coors Amphitheater, for the same price ($40) and tickets are onsale tomorrow at 10 am. My guess is that the service charges have increased but that's just going by past Coors/LiveNation shenanigans.

White Stripes Pre-Sale Tickets: ON SALE NOW

Sign up here if you want White Stripes pre-sale tickets. Pre-sale tickets are $40 plus $4.60 service charge. Make sure to change the shipping to "First Class Mail" which will cost $3.50 instead of the $9 default shipping option. Total ticket cost: $48.10 (for one ticket)

White Stripes Pre-Sale Tickets: Tuesday, 6/19 at 10 am

I'm not buying tickets, but if you are and wanna get your Icky Thump on, presale tickets for White Stripes go on sale at 10 am today with Cold War Kids at Viejas Concerts at Bayside on September 18.

here.

FYI, capacity at the Embarcadero is huge and is general admission. I don't suspect this will be the kind of event that will sell out in 20 minutes when it actually goes onsale on Saturday. In the past, tickets for Viejas shows are available at the Sports Arena with no service charges.

New White Stripes: You Don't Know What Love Is, You Just Do What You're Told

Indie 103.1 is previewing a new White Stripes song called "You Don't Know What Love Is, You Just Do As You're Told." Feels very Redd Kross to me. I like it though, less of a grower than Icky Thump was.

just thought I'd give my two cents.

Street Scene 2007 Lineup Guessing Game Continues...

According to Troy Johnson, Smashing Pumpkins and White Stripes are both definitely not playing Street Scene 2007. I'd take his word for it. White Stripes will be at Vijas Concerts at Bayside on September 18, according to their website. Cold War Kids are still listed on their site as playing Street Scene, which is a little odd to me, but whatever.

I don't go to Street Scene for the headliners and don't get any feeling about these two particular bands, so I'm just anxious to see who really is playing. Just stretching my guesses and looking at Tour dates, I'd be happy to see Arcade Fire, Kaiser Chiefs and Spoon among a ton of other "wish list" bands.

Monday Newsy Bits: English Beat, Street Scene, Tim Pyles, Smoosh

I'll get to the regular blog later, but until I get to it, enjoy Smoosh covering Blog Party's This Modern World:

******
My speculation turns to fact since Cold War Kids have in fact, been added to the Street Scene lineup. Now, since they're touring together, we wait for the White Stripes to confirm.

One of my favorite people on the planet has started a little blog of his own. Tim Pyles started a website and with all his access in this town, you know it's gonna have some tasty nuggets. Check out The Local Pyle here.

I'm in a mood for rambling today.

This story is gonna be a long drifting tale, but bear with me. This weekend I was thinking about some of the coolest music moments I've had in my life...you know, like small brushes with fame that for about two seconds make you feel like the cool kids let you in the club. This came up partially because while at indie jam I had a photo pass, and everyone is up in the photo pit with their super mega cameras, and there I am like a dork with my little sony coolpix, given the opportunity only because I'm a blogger.

Anyway, one of those cool times came back around 1996. Friends of friends hooked me up with Goldfinger, and every time they toured through southern California, I got to hang out, and go to their shows here, LA, and San Bernadino, and got to hop around the stage taking pictures of them (again, with little point and shoot camera) . So one time, while backstage in San Bernadino, I got to meet all the other bands playing that particular radio festival. Evan Dando was one of them, but back in those days, his drug habit was pretty well known. Anyway, he's fucking around, I take a picture of him, he doesn't like it, he leaps at me and tries to wrestle me for my camera which I tucked into my jeans. He's kinda choking me and it all happens pretty quick, but the guys from Goldfinger come to my rescue, as does Dave Wakeling of English Beat. They pull Evan off of me, make sure I'm ok (a tiny neck scratch) and the Lemonheads pull Evan away and apologize to me for our altercation.

This long winded story all to say that I've always been a fan of Dave Wakeling because of that night, though he probably would never remember it. That said, Dave Wakeling has some tourdates coming up that I thought I'd post...

The English Beat has some summer tour dates. They're hitting the states and will appear at the Belly Up July 5th and 6th. That's gonna be a weird week, with 4th of July falling on a Wednesday, so it should be a great week for going out and not having to worry about a long dragging work week. They will also be at Coors Amphitheatre on August 18th with 311 and Matisyahu for the "Unity Tour".

The afterthought to that story is that years later I met Evan again and told him about our incident while standing outside the Zombie Lounge while our friends got drinks inside and he apologized profusely. Even being choked never stopped me from being a fan.

Street Scene 2007 Lineup Speculation: Cold War Kids

I love guessing about Street Scene.

Cold War Kids have just been added to every White Stripes date, so I'm gonna proclaim this an "If...Then..." Scenario. If White Stripes play Street Scene (which is VERY possible with their tour schedule), then it is likely that Cold War Kids will play the festival, too. Or they'll just kick it at home in LA. But I doubt they'd do that considering both 91X and FM 94/9 play CWK, there's definitely an audience...

Street Scene Lineup Taking Shape?

Apparently.

My fellow bloggers have commented here a couple bits of info.

The White Stripes did not include Street Scene on their recently released tour dates. But San Diego is missing from their tour entirely, which is pretty unusual. Their tour has them playing on September 21st in Berkeley, CA, then on the 24th in Anchorage, Alaska. Maybe the 22nd here?

Meanwhile, Chickrawker commented that Smashing Pumpkins will be playing on the second day of Street Scene without revealing her sources.

Also, another mention that Jamal at the House of Blues is the dude to bribe if you want your local band to be given a shot at playing Street Scene this year. The majority of the lineup is expected to be pulled together in June. Of course, this is still conditional since I haven't yet heard that the Del Mar Racetrack is totally on board just yet.

Update: A new festival in Colorado called Monolith is scheduled for September 14 & 15. Think festival artists. Think Street Scene. Maybe some of the same artists will grace this beautiful city of ours? Some of the acts include The Flaming Lips, The Decemberists, Ghostland Observatory (next big thing), The Brian Jonestown Massacre, William Elliott Whitmore (I LOVE him), Yacht, and Cake. Take your chances and buy your presale Street Scene tickets when you can.

Street Scene Prediction: White Stripes

Assuming that Street Scene does come together this year, I just heard on Indie that there are rumors swirling that White Stripes will be touring through LA in September. Sounds like if that is the case, a swoop to San Diego wouldn't be too far fetched. Since Icky Thump is growing on me, I'll give the possibility a thumbs up.

More Monday News

My Google alerts are blowing up with blogs and sites posting the news that the White Stripes have annunced a tour. In fact, the dates being posted are from the 2005 tour. It's one thing for blogs to get it wrong, but Billboard? Filter? lame.

Another Viejas Concert in the Park:

Bloc Party-

General AdmissionTickets $35.00 on sale Friday, March 23 at 10 am!

I know that's not a cheap ticket, but I saw the Gipsy Kings there one year an every seat is a good one. If you like Bloc Party a lot, I recommend sucking it up and springing for a ticket. After seeing Joss Stone a couple weeks ago, I would really go out on a limb and recommend that show, too, if you even just kinda like her.
