I can't say I've been listening from the beginning (I just wasn't that cool as a tween), but I definitely started listening in the Lou Niles era and through high school I'd record the show on cassette and started to get my intro to music that I couldn't see in bars. All the hosts through the years have been amazing and I am so proud of Pyles to continue carrying the torch not just on-air but all over San Diego in celebrating local music. I've heard Marco Collins is making it down for this one, so it is going to be a super special night. I hope to see everyone there.

I have been looking forward to tonight's Alt-J show at the Casbah for some time. Tickets were selling well, but the day after the band won the coveted Mercury Prize the show sold out and I have to say I haven't seen so many old friends come out of the woodwork, all to ask if I have some magical hook-up for the show. Sorry, kids, the list has been full for a long time and I can't help ya. Unfortunately, I found out yesterday that I will be working tonight, which is cool because The Sword at Brick By Brick will be awesome, too, and that one just sold out, so it will be a fun night, but still, I'll be missing Alt-J.
That's why when Pyles asked me if I wanted to come to an Alt-J session at Iacon Sound Studio in Golden Hill, my face totally lit up. It isn't a full show with the full band, but it will have to do because, well, it's Christmas and this girl has to work when I can.
Iacon Sound was formerly Black Box, and Sulo King has taken over and it is beautiful and open for business, by the way. They have six rehearsal rooms plus the live room, a vocal room, and if you rent rehearsal space, they're available 24/7, which means when you get the inkling to rehearse at 3:30 in the morning, you can do so.
Anyway, today's session was attended by a bunch of FM 94/9 folks as well as some listeners and it was pretty damn awesome. We were told that this was the first time they had ever done something like this for radio, so it made it all the more special. The three video playlist is below. (The station shot much better photos and video, so be sure to check out their site here.)
I got the following from Timmy P and wanted to share it with all of you. Keep in mind that while you're submitting to be on the Staring At The Sun 10 compilation, Bart and Tim are two of the most influential music guys in town. Even if you don't win the slot, getting your music heard by these guys could lead to booking and other opportunities, so it's a no-brainer to get your music to them ASAP:
Attention San Diego County based musicians!
Blindspot Records and FM94.9’s local music show, the Local Pyle, hosted by Tim Pyles are teaming up for a special contest.
The winner receives a spot on the compilation album, Staring at the Sun Volume 10, and will headline one of the CD release shows later this summer. More details TBA.
The Staring at the Sun series spotlights San Diego’s music scene and the area’s top comics artist’s. This year’s edition will feature art from Chynna Clugston, creator of the acclaimed Blue Monday and Scooter Girl, as well as titles such as Legion of Superheroes. Staring at the Sun is given away free at a series of events throughout the summer.
All you have to do to enter is send in a CDr of your best track under 4:00. Your track must be received by June 2. (Extended to June 6)
Do you have a song in your set list that everyone thinks should be a hit or really gets a crowd going? That’s the song we’re looking for.
The contest is open to any genre. It doesn’t cost anything to enter the contest.
The winner will be selected by Tim Pyles and Bart Mendoza (of Blindspot Records) and announced June 10 on the Local Pyle Show.
Send music to:

I am not exaggerating when I say that I've actually had dreams about (1) setting all of my possessions on fire (2) being on a TV show that was a hybrid of "Clean Sweep" and "Hoarders". Don't ask me how packing/moving is going because it isn't. I have 20 empty boxes in my house and really all I want to do is take all my stuff to my alley and let people go to town finding what they need.
Needless to say, life has been a little bit more hectic this week than I predicted. Today we had a Casbah meeting and I have a grip of shows to add to our calendar, Pyles and I dropped by the Pacific San Diego Magazine offices, then went to FM 94/9 to record a session with The Wombats, dropped the band off at the Casbah, and picked up some pet food for my starving babies. Now it's 5:30 and I'm reheating leftovers (my first meal of the day) as I wait for some dude who might want to buy my car.
Not that you care about any of this.
The main point, after all, is that The Wombats are playing at the Casbah tonight for the first time in about four years and there are still plenty of tickets available for the show. After spending a little time with the band, I can tell you that they're all great guys and tonight promises to be a great show. They also joked that they're looking for alternate revenue streams and will be starting a butter company called Road Butter. We deduced that there is some gross and devious meaning, but maybe they just meant this. Below are the two songs they played in studio, "Jump Into The Fog" and "Tokyo".
Today I sent out my very first email newsletter...I know, took me long enough, right? But I guess I just really thought everyone already hears enough from me on my site or from Twitter and Facebook, but it's just another way to reach you, so if you want to sign up for my newsletter (which eventually will have exclusive contests and such), feel free to sign up over in the sidebar of my site.
Just in case you haven't been hit by me from every angle, this Friday is the Five Year Anniversary Party of this site. It's gonna be at The Griffin (can I stop saying "formerly O'Connell's" yet?) at 9pm and some of my dear friends are playing. The night will kick off with Tim Pyles DJing (and between bands throughout the night). Josh Damigo will kick off the live music with an acoustic set, then Old Tiger will take the stage with their sexy, soulful grooves, and we'll close out with the frenetic energy of my Fresno friends, Fierce Creatures. I'm counting on it being a super fun night and I hope to see you all out there to make it so.
I really planned on sleeping in, but couldn't resist checking email while letting Pascha out to handle her business and I just thought I had to share this with you before I crawl back into bed: Michael Halloran is going back on the air at 91X. He'll be the new host of Loudspeaker after the spot was left vacant when Rowley accepted an amazing opportunity at Slacker. As you can read in the full press release below, Hal will also have a new program called "FTW", certainly a spin on "FTP" which he started at 94/9 years ago but is currently hosted by Tim Pyles from 7-8pm on Sundays. Pyles and Halloran will then go head to head on their respective local shows from 8-10pm. Having Hal back on the air is a smart move on all sides and certainly will be an outlet to pimp some visibility for that other thing that Mike's been working on that I'm not sure if we're talking about yet. Congrats to 91X and Halloran. Sundays just got a little bit more interesting.
Press Release:
Mike Halloran will return to the airwaves on San Diego alternative rock station 91X (XTRA-FM, 91.1) beginning this Sunday, October 2 as the permanent new host of “Loudspeaker,” San Diego’s longest running radio program dedicated to local music.
Loudspeaker will air 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday nights. Immediately following, Halloran will also air a new program from 9:00 to 10:00 P.M. on Sunday called “FTW.” The free-form program will adopt a “no rules, no gimmicks” moniker, driven by the unpredictability and immeasurable music knowledge Halloran is known for.
“I am honored to take part in the ongoing resurgence of my first home and my first love in San Diego, 91X,” says Halloran. “Oddly enough, October 2 is two days before the 25th anniversary of my original start date of October 4, 1986. Seems like yesterday, not last century.”
“Simply put, Mike is the perfect host for Loudspeaker as well as our new musical brainchild “FTW.” New music, unreleased music, and tasty nuggets from the 91X archives,” says 91X Program Director Garrett Capone. “We are absolutely stoked to welcome Mike back to the 91X family and I assure you that San Diego radio on Sunday nights will never be the same!”
While the rest of the country is being scorched with a massive heatwave, San Diego proved to be the best place to be. The weather today was absolutely gorgeous...sunny and warm with just enough onshore breeze that the wafts of the occasional hygienically challenged Comic-Con attendee was never unbearable.
My day started with my usual Wednesday meeting at the Casbah with the Tims. After, Pyles and I ran a few errands and made our way downtown, where we quickly found unmetered and time-limit free parking. (It's good to be a local) We popped into Mission Brewery for a couple beers and after Pyles consumed that 9.25% Shipwrecked Double IPA, he was like a kid at Disneyland. His excitement was contagious and we quickly walked over the footbridge by the ballpark and made our way to the convention center. I stopped to take the photo above, and when I was done, Tim had already wandered off. I saw his bald head in the crowd, but as we hit the swarms of people in line, I lost him. After a couple calls and texts, I realized he'd blazed off and had already acquired his badge. I thought I could be sneaky like last year and skip the lengthy "Professional and Press" line and just go to the sail plaza, but they scanned my registration and after telling me it had already been scanned (panic!), realized it was press and sent me back downstairs. The line was huge, but all in all it only took 15 minutes, so I rejoined Pyles and somehow we maneuvered through some back doors on the deck and quickly got into Con.
Preview night was much less insane than last year, but it was still swarms of people, long lines, and general insanity as collector's waited to get all of their Con exclusive collectables. I'm not much for toys (I still have that Tron lightcycle from last year at the bottom of a drawer) but Tim had big eyes and if he could, I think he would've bought one of everything. I let him lead the way as we wandered the crowded floor.
Today wasn't a big celebrity day, though we did see Andrew WK and while we were visiting Randall at his Kleeman & Mike booth, I saw Brian Posehn (again...I ran into him at 4th & B a couple years ago for the Gwar show).
I was excited to once again see The Walking Dead booth...this year you can take a photo with a prosthetic/wax doll of "Merle Dixon" (played by Michael Rooker) with a set from the scene when he was handcuffed to the roof. It looked very creepily real.
As preview night wound down, we were starving...other than our liquid lunch, neither of us had eaten anything all day (breaking all of my survival tips)... so it was nice that Lolita's was on the way to the car, and that we somehow arrived before a massive rush of people came in. We swung by the Casbah to say hi to friends and caught part of Junior's DJ set and watched some of The Hood Internet before it was time to head home. I suppose I should be asleep since I'm not exactly sure what time we're heading down in the morning, but tomorrow should be fun with a lot more off-site activities including the Wired Insider party, a media preview of the South Park "Year of the Fan" compound, and hordes more people and photo-ops. Night night, y'all.
Okay, so this post isn't going to win me any awards or probably teach you anything new, but If you're new to San Diego, and didn't know, The San Diego Music Award winning duo, Little Hurricane's new record, "Homewrecker" just dropped on itunes and if it doesn't win something at the SDMA's this year, then I'm going to hand them one of mine. (I'm just a pussy-lipped singer/songwriter with open mic generics anyways...) I've already listened to the album thrice, and my ears won't quit making out with my headphones. @LILHURRY's frontman, Tone, has a voice that is about ready to explode, and if you haven't met CC, then you've possibly missed the hottest drummer San Diego's ever known. (I'm totally gonna research chick drummers in SD and do a post on it... so feel free to nominate the hottest chick drummers in the "comments" section.
The best way to describe their sound is to say that they're a mix of dirty blues and california surf. They're similar to the Black Keys, White Stripes, or Cage the Elephant, but with Jon Foreman's (Switchfoot) voice. The album is wicked consistent with great songs like "Sweet Pea", "Homewrecker" and "Give Em Hell". They are a "MUST SEE" whenever they're in town and they'll be playing at SXSW 3 or 4 times this week. (You can see where on their myspace.) They are having their album release at the Casbah on April 2nd with Get Back Loretta, River City, and Low Volts. (Why it's not a "Featured" concert is beyond me... get with it, Casbah...) (9:00 start time, buy your tickets before it sells out.) (Also... if you guys want me to play a tambourine or sell merch... I will... seriously...)
I only have a small critique on the album. I've seen them play live 3 or 4 times, and I know Tone can go off even bigger on his vocals than he showed on these tracks. I would have loved to sit in the studio with them and have him scream into the mic so that it ruined his voice for a month and a half. I feel like he held a little bit of the dirtiness back, but on the other hand, CC did do a great job on her vocals. (I know that's kind of a critique, but I'm a pitch guy, ask Holslin... and even perfect 10's can miss a note or two...)
If they don't follow this album with a live record, I will go on a hunger strike and camp outside of the San Diego Zoo flinging poo at people. (That one was for you, Rosey... You go to the San Diego Zoo too much... Me and Tim Pyles both agree. I'm also not mad that you didn't invite me to SXSW, but still asked me to write in the blog. Whatever.) I'm gonna go ahead and call it now- when their live record comes out, it better win a SDMA or I'll give them my other one.
This album and band are so good, Seth Combs would probably clap once or twice.
There are SO. MANY. SHOWS. this week and it's actually a bummer that there is so much overlap, so I'm going to highlight a few of the fliers throughout the next couple days, because as a sponsor, booker, partner, or manager, I'm happy to say I've got my fingers in a lot of them, even if just slightly.
Thursday Night:
Along with my regular booking at West Coast Tavern (the week is The Free Radicals which features Melly Frances), we have an NBCSanDiego party (which I'll also post).
Also on Thursday night, Daydream Nation has their 1 year Anniversary show at FLUXX, featuring a special reunion show of Louis XIV who will be joined by Lesands, Hot Moon, DJ Ikah Love, and hosted by Tim Pyles. There are always drink specials (ask your bartenders!!) and the dress code is relaxed so you can get away with being your cool rocker self. Tickts are under $20, so click the flyer below and grab your tickets.
I know we were all just going "Crazy" for Cee-lo Green, but Daydream Nation is already back with another great FLUXX live event for you tonight. On the bill, the legendary Mixmaster Mike who'll be supported by San Diego favorites Hyena and Jamuel Saxon (so prepare to wear your neon body paint). The event is once again hosted by Mr. Tim Pyles and should be a fun way to kick into the weekend. Tickets are only $10 in advance and you can buy them by clicking on the flyer. I hear there's an unlimited guestlist before 10:30 if you hit up Jamuel Saxon on Facebook, but you'll have to investigate that one on your own.
Remember, the Daydream Nation events are made for those of us who might not hang out in downtown's bourgie clubs, so there's a relaxed dress code. Yes, they even let me in with my hoodies. Don't be afraid to ask the bartenders if there are drink specials...usually there's a $5 beer and $6 well on the menu...if you don't want the sticker shock of paying double that for other bevvies.
On Friday I had the pleasure of hanging out at SDRL...Stereo Disguise Recording Laboraties...as Keith Milgaten and Pall Jenkins recording a Pyles Session with Jesse LaMonaca and the Dime Novels. The full session will be broadcast tonight on The Local 94/9 on FM 94/9 at 9:30. If you're not near a radio or outside of San Diego, you can stream the show online here.
Jesse LaMonaca and the Dime Novels will be performing a free show this Thursday night at Anthology with The Blackout Party. Doors are at 9:30 pm and there will be drink and appetizer specials all night long. I'll even be providing the music between bands. Click the flier to RSVP for the event, and we hope to see you on Thursday night.
This is an outtake from before the session. I was on a weird ladder, so sorry it gets kinda shaky for a minute as I adjusted my position.
It's been a while since I posted any newsy bits, and since I don't have a lot of time before I hit two Christmas parties and at least one show, I'll keep it brief.
First, congratulations to my dear friend and colleague Tim Pyles (photo by Natalie Kardos) for being named the 2010 SubModern Host of The Year for his "FTP" show on FM 94/9. We all know he rocks, but it's nice for FMQB to take note and spread the word among the radio world. It would be super awesome if his show was syndicated to other stations, dontcha think?

A couple weeks ago, I posted about O'Connell's being sold. Apparently that report was premature and at the last minute, the buyers dropped out, so for now, O'Connell's is still O'Connell's. As they'd planned on moving on, there were no shows booked for December, so if you want or need a show in December, you might wanna hit them up.
************
Other tidbits- The Styletones will no longer have a Monday residency at Bar Pink come 2011. Though they'll still be all over town, those Mondays became a ritual for manyso be sure to catch them before the year ends. ** Word on the street is that Dirty Sweet has called it quits. With a long history in the San Diego music scene, I suspect they'll find new outlets down the road. **CityBeat reports this week that Seth Combs new venture will be a lifestyle site call GFYSanDiego. Presumably "Go Fuck Yourself", and with SDGossipScene closing up shop and heading to New York, I can already feel the target on my back from my favorite frenemy. Best of luck to Seth.
(ed. note: You all know and love Tim Pyles, and while he has his own site getting sorted out, he volunteered to write about the Gorillaz show for sddialedin.com We actually have a bet. I was sure that Gorillaz played 4th & B in 2002 but Pyles seems to think I'm making it up. )
Gorillaz visited San Diego for the first time recently and as a frequent concertgoer this show blew any and all away! Not only is the band fronted by Damon Albarn (Blur), the touring band now features two members of The Clash; Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. Plus, you add in guest appearances from De La Soul, Little Dragon, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Rosie Wilson, Bobby Womack, Bootie Brown, Bashy and Kano, well magic ensues. Los Angeles had the privilege of seeing Lou Reed join with them the night before, but that's not San Diego. You could even say Snoop Dogg and Shaun Ryder of the Happy Mondays were on stage, but it was the huge screen behind the actual band.
I was so very excited about this show, having seen the band in LA back in 2002 on the first tour. During that first tour the band performed behind two screens that had projected visuals and animations, you only saw shadows of the actual players. The band has done limited touring since 2002, a few dates in 2006 (NYC & Manchester, UK) and now this HUGE World Tour in 2010. The band played the latest Coachella, as well. If you saw this show, feel lucky cause it was rare.
The show kicked off with Snoop Dogg on the big screen and just took off from that point on. Each song featured a different guest for the most part, with Damon Albarn as the ring leader. Both Mick Jones and Paul Simonon exuded The Clash cool on stage! It felt more like a show, a production than say a concert where the band plugs in and plays. This was awesome, but never seemed technical or lacking soul.
N.E.R.D. opened to a small house with people arriving slowly, but never let on with Pharrel giving it his all. I'm a fan of both artists and felt it was a dream match-up for a show. The both fall into this neo-Hip Hop thing, but rock too. I always see and hear lot's of colors...
After visiting with Shepard Fairey yesterday, Tim Pyles and I decided to head back over today to see the progress of the wall and see if we could get an interview with Shepard. He was more than kind to say yes. As the word about Shepard spreads around San Diego, more and more onlookers have been making a point to see the work. Shepard has fans constantly vying for his attention and his kindness and graciousness to talk to everyone, take pictures, and sign posters makes it surprising that he ever gets anything done. Today was especially great because his wife, Amanda, was there with the girls, along with Samantha and Jen, who I hadn't seen all together since perhaps junior high school. Huge thanks to Tim and Shepard for agreeing to do this interview on the fly.
Here are a few shots I took today of the progress, but be sure to check out my friend Dave's shots from yesterday here.
I recently got an e-mail from a guy in England who wants to move to San Diego next summer because he heard our music scene is where it's at, and he was looking for advice on breaking into the scene as a promoter or with a job at a club, booking, scouting, anything to be part of it.
That's the funny thing about media buzz, isn't it? What is 'out there' may or may not reflect what is really going on here. I've tried pretty hard to promote the thing I love most about this town because I know we do have an amazing music scene and community. There are a lot of other people who work hard to convert the masses, some successfully and others, not so much. It may not be all kumbaya- there's certainly competition- and bands have entirely different goals and strategies to achieve those goals, but when it comes down to it, the success of one band usually benefits the music scene as a whole. To me, it would be nice if it came together a bit more...if North Park Music Thing and Awesome Fast could coexist in harmony instead of one being the angry response to the other, but that's just the nature of the game, I guess. I'm just happy to be part of all of it.
There's not really any real point to all of this except that I chatted with CatDirt yesterday. It is because of him that this site exists, so it was nice kinda catching up and recounting how things have changed in the last few years with so many new venues (is Airport gonna be the next new music venue in town??), promoters, bloggers, and bands that have come and gone. Always an interesting conversation. Anyhow, he pointed me toward Vice Magazine that featured Beaters, who are playing a free show tonight at Whistle Stop. I miss talking to him about music because the guy knows everything. It's nice touching base with someone with his ear to the ground.
Incidentally, afterward I hung out with Miggs at Taang! records. I swear if you ever, hypothetically, need to find "that one band with that one guy that was in that other band before he died of a heroin overdose after their critically acclaimed punk album was released", Miggs has it or knows where to get it. There are a lot of people in town like that...Bart Mendoza, Larry Munroe, Tim Pyles, Daye Salani...every conversation is educational to say the least. San Diego may or may not live up to the hype, but I love this town either way.
p.s. I know the listings are getting a little ridiculous (there's SO MUCH STUFF), but hopefully we'll be moving the site soon and can remedy the situation.
Everyone's favorite man about town, Tim Pyles, made an appearance on Good Morning San Diego this week and the video is online for all to see (though not to embed, apparently). You can see the full interview here. He was also in the U-T last week, which you can read here.
Also, if you missed the feature in CityBeat about the legendary Casbah, you can read that in full here.
I'm on my fifth night in a row peddling t-shirts so make sure you pick one up before I start running out of sizes. If anyone out of town would like to buy one, email me and I can work out a PayPal payment and shipping. I'm working on commission so I need to move as many of these bitches as I can.
Sunday night was going to be a mellow night but then I got a text from a friend reminding me that the first show of the Bushwalla & Dawn Mitchelle "Acoustic Mayhem" tour was kicking off that night at "Across The Street" the current music home of Twiggs' Coffee Shop musical performances in Normal Heights (held in the Mueller College of Holistic Medicine massage room). Dawn has a beautiful voice and has that singer/songwriter acoustic guitar thing down pat. The dumpster funk rhymes of Bushwalla brought in a packed crowd. Earlier in the year he had done a residence here but since he had not done a show in san diego for a while, I could understand the huge crowd. He did plenty of funky fun songs and a few audience involvement singalongs as well as several freestyle sessions using audience contributions.
By 11:30pm I was ready to call it a night, but considering I had heard an awesome band called Mad Juana featured on Tim Pyles Local 94/9 radio show earlier in the night and considering that they were playing a end-of-the-tour show that same night at Bar Pink, I decided to check it out on the way home to North Park.
When I walked through the door of Bar Pink and saw a beautiful girl dancing with a sword and then pulling out two live snakes... I knew the show was going to be good. The snake charmer was the opening band, and Mad Juana rocked the small crowd with very funky gypsy/accordion/sax/trumpet/violin/world style music. The violin player had skull bones face-paint on and was wearing a head to toe mariachi suit while the lead singer busted out a Melodica on some songs. The band was well dressed and very tight. All I know is, they brought the house down. People were losing their shit left and right. The most fun and dancing I've had at a show in recent memory. Plus it was free. Bravo Bar Pink.

FM 94/9 Insiders are pretty accustomed to getting e-mails to enter a drawing to win entrance to private studio sessions with major artists when they come to town, and they've done a lot of good national acts as well as some killer sessions with local bands for The Local Pyle. Natalie entered to win tickets for The Hold Steady and actually won, so in response to her tweet, I got to be her plus one.
Strate Sound is a beautiful recording studio located in east county. I'll say, for the record, that as a San Diego native, I'd never been to the area, so it was kind of, um, eye-opening? It could've been Lancaster or Baker or Modesto. I arrived a little after 12 and helped myself to a Budweiser in the cooler, which I later found out belonged to some dudes...so sorry. I thought it was a free for all. Anyway, we hung outside while the band was being interviewed, enjoying awesome philly cheesesteaks from Gaglione Brothers until around 1, when we entered the facility. Nat and I took spots on the floor up front.
They dimmed the lights so my photos suck, but here they are anyway. Check Natalie's site for better ones later.
I was a little surprised the station wasn't videotaping the session, so I took it upon myself to record a song. After talking with everyone, it seems they would've been cool if I'd recorded the whole thing, but I didn't want to make a scene, so this is the best I got.
You can listen to the entire session, including the interview, this afternoon on FM 94/9 around 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. Click HERE. Huge thanks to the station. It was pure coincidence that I had taken to day off from work and man, am I glad I did. I cannot wait to see the show tonight at the Casbah.
On Sunday, my parents picked me up and we met up with the girls, who were shopping on Garnet. We swapped out, they picked up Claudia and her friend, and the rest of us walked back to my sister's where we pretty much sat around catching up with family time. After most of the afternoon there, I was dropped off at the Casbah around 6:30, well in time to hang out, catch up with Pyles and Porter, grab some of the food from Lucha Libre, and see all the bands. Well, let's be honest, I didn't see all the bands, but I'll explain that in a minute.
I watched all of The Moviegoers set. I've been a huge fan of their EP for a few months now and was happy to see the positive response from people I talked to about the band and their first San Diego show. Since everyone was asking if they're local or not, I'll clarify and say they all met in college on the east coast and used to play parties and whatnot but were mostly a studio project. After everyone graduated, they moved around and all ended up on the west coast. You can read the full story on their MySpace page. they played around and decided to record songs. Most of the band is now San Diego based, except for the bassist, Jordan, who lives in LA. I thought they really impressed, especially for their first show here, and hope they plant their roots here for good because they definitely have something to contribute to the local music scene. (By the way, they're playing NXNP on Saturday with a showcase at The Whistle Stop)
The Moviegoers
I don't know what got in to me, but I started on beers that night, I guess vodka didn't seem right with the sun still out, but then I decided to move on to Jameson shots. Weird. Anyway, of course between bands I hung out with friends and watched Tim broadcasting live (and giving me huge shout-outs).
Everyone has told me about Fever Sleeves for some time, and I know I've seen them before but I decided to make sure I checked them out. For about 2 minutes. The thing was, I think I'd really like their music. But I have no idea for sure because they were so. freaking. loud. Seriously, I had ear plugs in, and couldn't hear shit except for a mish mash of over amplified instruments completely drowning out vocals. Now I remember why I've not reviewed them before. But hey, they sounded good from outside.
I got all chatty and was hanging out on the patio for most of their set, which carried into Syndicate's set so I ended up missing them save for hearing a bit of their dancey music from the patio.
Japanese Sunday closed up the night and so I was back in for most of their set, though the lights had been turned down so my pics didn't come out. I did take video, however, and I really dig this band a lot.
Japanese Sunday
Big thanks to Dagart for the safe ride home. Rosey + Jameson + Makers = pure silliness. Lesson learned.
