Things To Do In San Diego: August 13, 2012

I don't know about you, but I am glad the Olympics are over. For whatever reason, I was obsessed with the games for the first time ever and I'm hoping to go back to my usual sleep deprivation from live music versus my vampire hours to watch live archery or handball all night and day. Even outside of the Olympics, last week was just bizarre. On top of all the other stuff I already mentioned and hearing the Kitty Diamond is already back to being The Flame (3 months later!!), over the weekend nearly 2000 people showed up to a flash mob/water gun fight and destroyed the Lily Pond and killed the koi in Balboa Park and just reinforced my feelings about mob mentality, though the calls for organizers to take responsibility are a bit ridiculous, too. If cops didn't show up to arrest people the night of the event, the likelihood of actually finding the person or people who broke the water pipe/pump/filtration system is slim and blaming someone for the idea of the waterfight sounds like a losing legal proposition by the very nature of a social media meetup, but I'm no lawyer, so what do I know? Hopefully those involved can make good use of social media and raise money to cover the damage. I hear the weather is going to cool a bit, so hopefully that helps reduce the crazy and we can all have a blast tonight at the San Diego Music Awards.
