Tonight: Dave Mason & Jack Tempchin @ Belly Up

I hate posting shit straight from publicists, but when it is accurate, sometimes I just have to post:
After 22 years, legendary guitarist Dave Mason is back. On October 14th Mason released his most personal and best work to date, a solo album six years in the making, 26 Letters ~ 12 Notes on Out The Box Records. The album, a soulful blend of Mason’s rock and blues influences, is currently being shared and celebrated with a full nationwide tour that will last throughout the fall of 2008 and into early 2009. Dave Mason is most well known for the hit single “Feelin’ Alright,” which he recorded with Traffic in 1968. Throughout his 40 year career, Mason has played with some of the most popular musicians of his era including Jimi Hendrix, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac and Mama Cass Elliot.

As a bonus, Jack Tempchin is opening the show. Known for his songwriting ("Peaceful Easy Feeling"), I've had the chance to listen to his latest CD, simply named "Songs" and it is easily the best soundtrack for a camping trip in Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, or just a long therapy cruise in the back country of San Diego. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the show, but if you have an empty slate for Sunday, I highly recomment checking out this show. It isn't often that legendary musicians showcase in San Diego and they should definitely be applauded and they deserve a well-attended show at the Belly Up, which is pretty much the best place to showcase their sound.
