Layoffs at Clear Channel ...again

Corporate giant, Clear Channel Broadcasting has thrown the axe again. Layoffs have occurred company wide for the second time this year. Unfortunately, the aftermath with this round of layoffs have cut one of San Diego's original best radio personalities.

Robin Roth, was among some Clear Channel employees laid off this month. Robin started on 91x back in 1986 and was partly responsible for turning 91x into one of San Diego's best radio stations; before it was taken over from corporate greed. Robin was one of the last personalities to leave 91x when in Jan. '06 she closed the studio door of 91x and headed to Rock 105.3 (another Clear Channel station) located in the same building.

Robin has one of the most recognizable on-air voices in San Diego. I hope Robin's talent won't be off the air waves for long and her return to radio remains within the San Diego market.
As Clear Channel continues to stay afloat with the recession and the troubling San Diego radio market, we as listeners have to collectively support local radio stations by participating in community events, telling your friends, sharing our opinion and voting on your stations local website, and supporting local advertisers.
