Please Donate, Only a Couple of Days Left

Donate Here

I am not going to lie I cannot wait until I get to shave this thing off of my face, I will have it for a couple of more days.  I will not lie, I did receive more complements then I thought I would however my moustache will become a Wyclef Jean song if I reach my goal.  When I decided to do Movember I thought that maybe I could raise 100 dollars for prostate and testicular cancer research.  With only two days left I am almost to that goal.  Right now I have raised 95 dollars and if I could raise over 100 I will be thrilled and will do it again next year.  So please donate, if 5 readers donate one dollar each I will make the hundred dollar mark.  I want to take this time again to thank the following for donating:

Douglas Kinner
Sheila Sondergard

Donate to Movember

It's November, that means Movember! time to grow out that moustache and or donate to the cause.  For those of you that do not know what Movember is, it is a time for people to grow out their moustache's in the month of November to raise vital awareness and funds for men's health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer (you can sign up here).  Last year in 2011, Movember had over 854,000 join the cause worldwide raising 126.3 million US dollars.  I hope this year matches or beats that amount.

This is my first year doing Movember as I generally look terrible with a moustache, but my face can take a month of punishment for a good cause. Per the rules I clean shaved on November first and the current picture is from November 7th, I will put up a weekly picture so you can see the progress.  As of right now  I have raised 5 dollars,  I am glad I raised something (thank you Douglas Kiner) but I believe that I can raise much more.  I ask the sddialedin readers and community to contribute.  I don't care if you give five dollars or five hundred dollars anything helps.  To make a contribution just follow this link and I appreciative your support and I will continue to grow this moustache (hopefully into a Ron Swanson).  In addition, by contributing to my Movember page you are also contributing to team 91X.

Again you can donate here, thank you

SD @ 140 BPM Recommends.............

Now that the election is over it is time to celebrate (or cure your sadness) with some great dance music.  Tonight Wednesday, November 7 at The Kava Lounge The Good Vibe Production presents Acoustic Minds, J*Labs, urBn:LgNd and Phunky Brewster with Live Painting by Ashley Bowers.  This is a night for the ladies as all artists performing include female members.  Acoustic Minds is a Portland based project composed of identical twins Jenni and Amanda Price who have been working on music together since the age of 3.  Their new project is a 5 piece band who take a live instrument approach to electronic, drum n bass, down tempo and dub step.  J*Labs will bring an original set with hopefully the same amount of energy that she brought to Electric Daisy Carnival, and local favorite urBn:LgNd will be closing the night out with a heavily UK influenced set.  Doors are at 9:00 pm and the event goes until 2:00 am.

Next Week Terraplane Sun @ Belly Up

Terraplane Sun are releasing a new EP entitled Friends and are celebrating the release at the Belly Up Thursday, October 18, with Del Sol Project and Loose Snakes.  The new release Friends produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco, My Morning Jacket) features dance provoking crowd favorite "Get Me Golden," (listen below) which you may recognize from national television ads including 21 Jump Street, What To Expect When You're Expecting and MTV's Teen Wolf.  Terraplane Sun fine tuned the EP by having a residency at the Satellite in Los Angeles/Echo Park where they showed off their great psych-blues rock intensity.  The relationship between the band and the crowd fuels Terraplane Sun's performances, an energy that cannot be replicated in any other medium.  Get Your Tickets Early Here.

SD@140bpm recommends........

Tonight Ocean Beats is moving away from their normal Ocean Beach Winston's location to bring the Bass to The Ruby Room in Hillcrest. Ocean Beats really packed the bill tonight, Girl Unit and SALVA alone are enough talent to draw a headlining crowd, the fact that they are playing together with great local support including URBN:LGND is going to make tonight a night to remember.

Girl Unit from the UK has a knack for making amazing sound spheres by combining vocal hooks with elements of R&B, Hip-Hop and electronic music.  Girl Unit's single Wut is known in the electronic community to be one of the best singles of 2010-2011 and he has shown he has a lot more in him with his great new Club Rez EP.

Salva is a San Francisco native now living in LA coming to San Diego fresh from the festival turned water park Lollapalooza and one of the most talked about DJ's at this years Lightning in a Bottle festival.

Make sure to get to the Ruby Room early as URBN:LGND is first on, even though she is listed as third on in the poster she is actually first on.  She gets on at 9:00 and if you RSVP on facebook it is only $10 to get in before 10:30.

The Set Times are:
9:00-10:30 URBN:LGND
10:30-11:30 Austin Speen and CRMNL
11:30-12:40  Girl Unit
12:40-1:40 Salva

Win Tickets to Sleigh Bells @ 4th&B Tuesday Night

A couple of months ago we showed you some original Sleigh Bells art work to announce the band's latest release, Reign of Terror. Now they are coming back to  San Diego (21+) and I recommend you get your tickets soon (sorry).  If you feel like gambling we are giving away a pair of tickets to see Sleigh "F" Bells and if you win congratulations  you are welcome, enjoy.

Seriously please follow the DIRECTIONS or you may not be a winner.

Here's how to win. Since FACEBOOK made us switch to timeline, LIKE san diego:dialed in on Facebook, and leave a comment in which you mention (1) you want Sleigh Bells tickets (2) anything else. You can tell me why you love or hate the new timeline, advice on how to customize Facebook with cool tricks, why you love Sleigh Bells, or 4th&B, or Goldenvoice (supplier of the tickets for giveaway), whatever. Let's face it, it's hard to pick a "random" winner, so the better the post, the more likes your comment will get, and the higher consideration you'll get for tickets, but I'll try to make it as random as possible. *You must be 21+, you must be available to attend the show on Tuesday night, tickets are non-transferable. I'll pick a name on Monday evening at 6pm. If I message you and don't hear back within an hour, I'll pick someone else. If you don't have Facebook notifications on your mobile device, I dunno what to tell you.

Check out Sleigh Bells' performance on SNL after the jump.

Tonight, Friday, March 23, at Winstons in Ocean Beach is going to go off with the sounds of Marty Party.  Marty Party is gaining strength in the EDM scene and has toured with acts like Glitch Mob, Bassnectar, Skrillex and more.  Marty Party also plays with Ooah of Glitch Mob in his side project PANTy RAiD, and with Minnesota in his side project Deathstar.  Marty Party has an original style that crosses dubstep, hip hop, and big bass bangers.  Every show is original and Marty Party calls his shows "Purple Opera"- that is a seamless voyage through an original music collection taking the audience on a roller coaster ride of dance and emotion that hit the audience with intense bass, huge beats and emotional melodies. His music is frequently featured in iTunes, Addictech and Beatport charts and the live performance will have everyone in the crowd going nuts, make sure to be here tonight!
