I had a great run of birthday celebrations, but turning 35 also put a lot in perspective and I had to take the weekend off to be with family and clear my head a little. In turn it was all capped by my landlord essentially telling me that she might not renew my lease in January, after living here 12 years, so needless to say I was pretty stressed out. A funny thing happened, though. I was at my sister's, visibly upset after talking with the landlord, and my four year old niece told me she missed me and asked me to lay on the bed with her as she watched Madeline. She laid her head on my chest, takes a deep breath, and dramatically says, "Tia Rosemary, there are just so many things to say to you." Keen instinct, that one, and bam, there's perspective without really even knowing what she was getting at. I hope to take every day as it comes, manage tasks and bills and figuring things out as I can. One foot in front of the other. It also helped that I got to see Blind Pilot on Sunday, Rocky Votolato is in town this week, and I think I'm kicking off a new venture this week (which I'll tell you about if it happens).
