Karen and Aisha, 10 days after the baby boy was born (Taken 1.14.22) |
So we did it. We worked at Music Box on Tuesday night and we'll be doing it again on Wednesday night. Current Joys and Dark Tea were good and their fans are obsessed. Because most of the crowd were minors, there wasn't a lot of booze flowing so I felt pretty good with everyone wearing masks, but we'll still probably do tests on Friday or Saturday before we visit my parents again. It was a long shift, however, so I don't really have anything else to say other than it is margarita time and my Wednesday post may not come until Thursday since it will be a big data day but it doesn't generally post until late afternoon. Plus we have to be up early Thursday because our management company is coming to repair some holes in the walls that they had to cut out months ago when they updated our electrical boxes. So yeah. I hope everyone is able to go onto the government site to register for free COVID tests.
Stay safe out there.

- Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Weekly Epidemiological Update and Weekly Operational Update
- Globally, the number of new COVID-19 cases increased in the past week (10-16 January 2022), while the number of new deaths remained similar to that of the previous week. Across the six WHO regions, over 18 million new cases were reported this week, a 20% increase, as compared to the previous week. Over 45 000 new deaths were also reported. As of 16 January, over 323 million confirmed cases and over 5.5 million deaths have been reported worldwide
Despite a slowdown of the increase in case incidence at the global level, all regions reported an increase in the incidence of weekly cases with the exception of the African Region, which reported a 27% decrease. The South-East Asia region reported the largest increase in new cases last week (145%), followed by the Eastern Mediterranean Region (68%). New weekly deaths increased in the South-East Asia Region (12%) and Region of the Americas (7%) while remaining approximately the same as the previous week in the other regions - CDC MMWR:

- The San Diego Zoo announced that Indah, one of the female orangutans gave birth on January 4, 2022 to a baby boy. This boy is the offspring of Satu, who died suddenly just before Christmas, and joins his older sister, Aisha, as well as "Auntie" Karen. The San Diego Zoo says Indah experienced complications in labor but is recovering and will be in her habitat sporadically when she is healthy enough to do so. I might have to go visit on Wednesday. For what it's worth, this makes total sense why last week when I went to the Zoo on Tuesday and Friday that Karen and Aisha were alone with the siamangs.
