Doing San Diego Proud

Congratulations to Matt Curreri for scoring the opening slot for Rhett Miller at the Belly Up on January 14th. That's even better than Rookie Card opening for Soul Asylum, isn't it. I mean Soul Asylum may have sold more albums but Rhett's gotta be worth more for street cred. Care to weigh in, Mr. Gimbel?

Also, congrats to Augustana who will be performing "Boston" on The Late Show with David Letterman on January 3 before they embark on another headlining tour and then join up with the Goo Goo Dolls. Congrats, guys. Keep us up with any good stories from the road!

I'm not gonna be in on that debate. I think they're good, and I've seen Jared at more local shows lately than most other local bands who get all upset about the scene and bands not supporting one another...

Here's from their website:
"we're from Greenville, Illinois...we're from Orange County...we're from St. Louis...we're from Los Angeles...we're from Chicago, we're from Atlanta...we're from Nashville...we're from San Diego...and we all live in a van somewhere in between those places at all times...no more than 3 feet from each other, 24 hours a day, for months on end... "

They aren't frontin' and people shouldn't be so bitter about their successes.

Hmmmmm, I'd say they're probably pretty even on street cred. Before Soul Asylum got huge, they'd done a ton of starving and touring. Regardless, I'm stoked Matt got the gig...and completely and totally jealous. I'm only half kidding but Matt's probably my favorite songwriter in town. So there.
