Weekend Rearview: The Rest of The Weekend

Saturday was a nice, lazy day around the house. I actually watched movies. I cannot remember the last time I sat for two hours straight watching a movie. After lounging, I hung out with my family for my dad's 60th birthday. We went to Point Loma Seafood, watched a sea lion go to town on some tossed out bait from the fishing boats, and I chased Johanna around for a couple hours (those were those other pics I posted this weekend.)

Saturday night I was pretty low motivation, but Joe came by and I agreed to walk over to the Ken with him. I was on the bar side most of the time, however I did catch most of A Scribe Amidst The Lions set and they sounded great. It's nice to see when bands get the feel for that room and the proper levels they should play. Still it was pretty dark so I didn't bother with photos. My neighborhood peeps were there so it was a really good time. We stayed till last call, then Abraham met Joe and I and we hung out after, with he and Joe geeking out on my iPod until the wee hours.

Come Sunday, it was another day with my family. We went to lunch in PB and hung out at my sister's before eventually making our way down to the Brazilian Independence Day festival and parade on Garnet. It was really fun, with dancers, drummers, and capoeira, not to mention vendors and tons of food.

It was a little odd because the Chargers game was going on, so the bros were spilling out of the bars, but all in all it was a good time. More if you 'keep on reading'

The parade was short, with only 4 large groups, but they all ended at Bayard and there was a stage with bands playing Brazilian music where hundreds of people danced and chanted and sang along while waving flags.

After the festivities, I headed home and was really tempted to head to the Casbah, but when I realized it was HBO premiere night, and how many pictures I needed to upload and I opted for a night in. No worries though, I'll be back at it the rest of the week. There are a ton of great shows to catch, only challenge will be deciding on which ones to attend.
