Monte Battalion, apparently a San Diego band, was named the winner of Street Scene's "Battle of the Bands" contest. I'll let Cat Dirt Sez reiterate his feelings on Battle of the Bands. As for me, in a year of blog postings and show listings, I've never seen or heard of this band, and not that I could possibly know every SD band, as far as I'm concerned I've only scratched the surface here, but I'm a little surprised that an SD band with a mere 324 friends on myspace won the contest. Congrats to them, nonetheless.

Not many people have heard of Monte Battalion because they have only been a band for about 3 months. Good thing this contest was based on quality rather than seniority.
