I mentioned earlier this week that I spent Sunday night with my girls- Stef and Sara came out and my cousin Connie was down from LA. We started at Sara's new pad in Cortez Hill and walked Downtown. We decided on Stout Pub, a new bar/pub that was formerly Cafe Cerise, right next to my favorite downtown pizza place, City Pizzeria. Although it was quite empty (still new, and pretty early on a Sunday night) I enjoyed the ambience of the bar and I could definitely see it picking up some business downtown as more residents move to the Cortez Hill and Smart Corner areas of Downtown. As you can see, there's plenty of room and I believe there's a full kitchen during the earlier hours of the evening. If you need more reason to check it out, the bartender/owner has a lovely Irish accent and makes you feel welcome the second you walk in the door. With it's proximity to the 6th Avenue Concert entrance to the House of Blues, it's a great option for pre-show drinks with a great selection of beers on draught and a full bar for mixed drinks. We only meant to stay for a drink, but the booth was so cozy we lasted for a couple before we headed on our way to explore the town.
Stout is on 6th Avenue between B Street and C Street. Unpretentious and simple, it's worth checking out. I know I'll be back. Kinda makes me wish I was still working downtown.

How wonderful to hear about the people who have been to Stout's and enjoy the beauty and the business aspects of the bar. My cousin and her husband opened the bar just recently and because I live in Michigan I have not been able to see it in person, however this website brought it close to home. Thank you! It looks amazing!
