SD DIALED IN is GOOD (A Post by Matt M)

Blaaahhhhg...
Is that where the term came from? Blah, blah blaaaah...blahg - Blog? Shit, I don't have the slightest. I DO know that it's become a necessity for us to maintain one AND a role that most bands have to take seriously these days. Seems that the old fires of appreciation that would burn and smolder on the fuel of a band's music alone have been replaced by the rapid synapse fires of tweets, facebook posts and concise blog entries to keep the A.D.D. engine chugging. An entirely new element of appeal, either distancing OR endearing fans to the source. I'm grateful for the fact that I enjoy it or it would probably seem like mowing the lawn did when I was a defiant sprat.

I have been posting a tour diary for my band TRANSFER on SD Dialed In for about a year or so and I have to give props right up front to Rosey for keeping this blog. It's consistantly chalked with info, show listings, reviews and for being an all around beacon support for the the San Diego music scene. It's been a fantastic guide for many and, from my perspective, a great forum to give folks a peek into our weird world of mayhem as we travel around on our musical capers.

We have recently returned from a trip across the pond and are excited to be playing in San Diego once again. In an act of support and shameless promotion I wanted to preview THURSDAY night's show at the Belly Up Tavern with a couple of killer local bands.
Everytime I see these guys, I'm impressed. They experiment with some blown out, distorted
organ and steel guitar...great vibe. I would say that keeping eyes on this band is going to be an eventful observation. Stoked to have them on the bill and are looking forward to hearing their new material.
Here they are at the Belly Up

BULLY -
If you are aware of the band DIRTY SWEET, then you may already know that BULLY features 4 out of the 5 members. I'm especially excited to see what they have up their sleeves. I spoke with their guitarist Mark Murino and he was humbly explaining their sound as a project employing some old soul and an approach to the classic style of songwriting. When I hear that I think soul and melody. Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond, The Drifters...I love the art of songcraft and any project that takes it to task has my ear. I'm not entirely sure what to expect but it sounds damn interesting.
SO - Here's the flyer - Click it for your ticket and BIG UPS for supporting LOCAL MUSIC!
