Indie pop mainstays Stars are lighting up San Diego’s House of Blues Wednesday, October 17th, in support of the release of their new album “The North”. The Canadian band has come a long way from their beginnings in 2000 and have scored several hit albums along the way, such as 2004’s “Set Yourself on Fire” and 2007’s “In Our Bedroom After the War”. This time around, they’re adding some synth to their already lush dreamy tunes, evident in such bubbly songs as “The Theory of Relativity” and “Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It”, both of which can be listened to after the jump. If you’re uninitiated to the Montreal-based five-piece band, come prepared to be charmed by the many duets between Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan alongside melodies that make deft use of the multi-instrument talents of the other bands members. Opening for Stars tomorrow night are Diamond Rings and California Wives, both acts gaining steam for the electricity of their live shows. Tickets for the show, presented by the Casbah, can be purchased in advance here.
