Coachella 2008: Do I Care?

If you haven't discovered the magic of Google Alerts, I don't know what to tell you other than I'm sorry for you. Troy told me about them last year and I've been hooked every since, adding alerts, fine tuning them, and sometimes deleting them. You basically set search terms and alert frequency and Google crawler sends you every blog that has posted your keywords. Yeah, I guess I'm giving away my blog secrets...oh well.

One of my favorites is simply "Coachella". When all the guessing begins, I get an email with dozens of sites that are talking about the festival, and when the festival ends, there are about 6 months where all I get are hits about Coachella Valley itself...hit and run accidents, the water drought, plans for development, stuff like that. On occasion someone will post a live Coachella set months later, so I get those, too. But it's only November. November! And the flood is already starting.

Coachella 2008 dates have been announced. The festival will take place April 25-27, 2008.

The question is, do I care? I have never been before, huge festivals have never been my thing, and 105 degree weather is definitely not my thing, but this year...I think I care. And I think I might wanna go. Call me crazy, and I have time to figure it all out, but I'm not shutting the door on the possibility as early as I have for the last several years.

Though, maybe I'd still rather do Sasquatch or Bumbershoot. And this year I'm aiming to hit SXSW March 7-16, too...so we'll see. But I'll cover Coachella this year as I did last year...announcing bands and whatnot when I hear them. Or, you could just set your own Google Alerts...

Sasquatch is one of the most beautiful venues I've ever been to. Great layout, too. It's a "gotta do it at least once" experience.
