Covid-19: City of San Diego Briefing | Public Safety for Memorial Day Weekend | City and County Will Honor Church Closure | City Libraries Offer Pick Up

Hiking Slot Canyon in Anza-Borrego in 2019 (3.26.2019)
I do NOT recommend this hike this time of year, whether or not it's open
Alright, I've been up way too long, so here's the last briefing for the day. A lot more of the same stuff about safety, and extra law enforcement this weekend to enforce the public health order. Faulconer also announced that 11 San Diego branch libraries will open starting Tuesday for reserved pickup of books. All that info is below.

San Diego City Daily Briefing with Kevin Faulconer:
  • Public Safety
    • Stay safe
    • Support local restaurants and retail
    • Follow the rules
    • Do it in a safe and responsible way
    • Widespread great compliance
    • Faulconer called out El Prez, too, for flagrant disregard of safety of others
    • Reopening can't happen if incidents like that become more prevalent
    • People will be enjoying the outdoors
    • Actions of a few should not impact us all
    • Don't give up the gains we've achieved
    • Police Chief reiterated what is allowed at beaches (paddling, swimming, surfing, running, walking, jogging, etc)
    • Robust law enforcement will be patrolling on sand and boardwalks
    • SDPD, Vice, ABC Code Compliance Officers will be checking on bars and restaurants to make sure they're following the health order
    • Come to the beach: get in, do your exercise, then get out, go home.
    • No loitering of any kind will be tolerated.
  • Religious Services
    • Saturday is last day of Ramadan - Festival of Breaking Fast
    • Imam supports maintaining social distancing
  • Contact free pickup at libraries starts on Tuesday, 5.26.2012
