Newsy Bits: Morena Club, Comic-Con 2008

I haven't done newsy bits in a bit, but there were a couple things that I thought I should post:
****
There was a robbery at the Morena Club on Sunday. Story here.

To further negate the rumors that ComicCon will be moving, there's this press release (courtesy of Jay Allen Sanford of the SD Reader):

"Hard Rock Hotel San Diego has been secured through Travel Planners Inc. to host the 2008 attendees from two of the largest lifestyle and entertainment conventions in the country - Comic-Con International and the Action Sports Retailer (ASR) tradeshows. Through its partnership with Travel Planners Inc., the host travel agency for Comic-Con and ASR, Hard Rock Hotel San Diego has arranged for 300 rooms during each event, as well as space for private media events associated with each convention."

Looks like we can count on another year of mayhem (or four, since the U-T reported that there is a contract to keep the Con in San Diego through 2012).
