Notice For Kensingtonians (?)

For people of Kensington, you might know that our beloved sign is going to be taken down and replaced. From the renderings, to me it looked like the same sign just with stone support columns, like the ones right before the 15 that used to be the gates of the community, but apparently people are upset about it. Personally, I'd just like to see it lit up 100% all the time:

The following notice is being distributed on behalf of Celia Conover, a Kensington resident who has prepared a report nominating the Kensington sign for historic designation.

S.O.S. Save our Sign!
Residents of Kensington and Talmadge:
Please don't forget to mark your calendars and attend the:

Historical Resources Board Public Hearing
Re: Kensington sign nomination for designation as a historical resource
Report Number: HRB-08-027

April 24, 2008
9:00 am
Council Committee Room, 12th Floor
City Administration Building
202 C Street SD CA 92101

The HRB Staff's Recommendation is in favor of nomination. The HRB will decide this matter, but your testimony may help persuade them to award this sign historic designation, and save our sign from being demolished and replaced.

You can also send an email to Cathy Winterrowd at CWinterrowd AT sandiego DOT gov and historicalresources AT sandiego DOT gov voicing your support for historical designation of our sign, which has been a fixture in Kensington since 1954.
