Kensington Terrace: Not Wasting Any Time

Yesterday I posted about the Kensington Terrace Partners coming to a compromise with the Heart of Kensington peeps, and today was the big media announcement (though I am missing it, you know, having to work and all), but it was quite amazing. When I left for work in the morning, the house just east of the gas station was standing. When I got home from work, a mere 6 hours after the announcement, and the entire house was already gone. What you see in this picture is the aparment complex behind the house. That will likely be gone today.

This morning I awoke to the sound of a Caterpillar moving dirt around and cleaning up any remnants of the house. The sad thing for me is that the giant tree sitting there will probably be the next thing to go. I love that tree. I love the cacophony of all the ravens chasing one another in the morning, I love the way that one branch droops down over the rest of the tree, and I love in spring when you can see the giant nest the birds have made of neighborhood waste mixed with branches and twigs.

Change is a'comin to my 'hood.
