Things To Do In San Diego: February 11, 2011

Last week I called out several area bars for not updating their websites and calendars. This week, I'd like to thank both Sam Chammas and Mick for getting those updates on the Whistle Stop and Tower Bar (respectively) sites. There's still a whole lot of fail going on out there...updating MySpace wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but at least this week looks a lot better than last weekend.

There are so many great shows this weekend it looks like I'll be running all over town. A few things to know...Casbah is sold out tonight, so if you don't have tickets, there's plenty of other good stuff happening around town.

On Saturday, The Tree Ring show has two prices....$12 for the ticket or $20 which includes entry and a copy of the vinyl. Bring cash because I hear there will be magical mugs for sale that magically get filled with adult bevvies if you're of age. I'll be working the door, so please know that tickets are cash only and the nearest ATM is a couple blocks away, so be prepared. If you're not heading to the Woman's Club, check out a very special show with Josh Damigo & The Midnight Pound at Lestat's. The show is being recorded for a live CD that will be released at a later date. You should be out of both in time for The Rumble, though there will probably be a line, so hopefully you know someone who knows someone to get you in the door for the free show.

Finally, Sunday there's gonna be a killer matinee show with Drag The River at the Casbah. I assume y'all haven't been buying tickets because the $2.30 service charge on a $5 ticket is a little odd, but there will be plenty of room to come have some afternoon PBRs with the beloved band before you head off to the sold out Decemeberists show at the House of Blues. If you're not going there, check out great shows at Soda Bar, Bar Pink, the Casbah, or Habitat House. Who needs a valentine when you can just date the scene like me?
