Tonight's Picks: Cary Brothers and/or Pen & Ink

If you were a fan of the movie Garden State, Cary Brothers (one guy, last name is "Brothers") is already familiar. His track "Blue Eyes" was featured prominently in the film soundtrack. Cary comes from the "Hotel Cafe" breed of musicians...along with Schuyler Fisk, Joshua Radin, Rachael Yamagata, Imogen Heap among others, they've criss-crossed the country on the Hotel Cafe tour and now Cary is finishing up his tour in support of his debut album "Who Are You". Cary will be at the Belly Up tonight. Stars of Track and Field are opening.
“Heartfelt vocals, beautiful melodies and astute lyrics…” – Contact Music
“Who You Are stands as an album of solid song-writing and enchanting melodies.” - PopMatters

I'll get to my review of Anti-Monday League in a few. If you're into music on the harder edge of things, I highly recommend checking out the show at the Zombie Lounge. Pen & Ink and Kingdom of Magic will be joined by Loom and Prize Country, both who impressed the hell outta me last night at the Casbah. And Loom had rad merch. I'll try to zip there after the Belly Up but I think it might get there too late.
