91X X-Fest 2008

Man, was I asleep at the wheel for this one. 91X seems to be quite aggressive these days and want you to know that they are back. They've announced their X-Fest show for this year and I totally spaced on it, so here it is:

X-Fest! With The Offspring, Pennywise, Jimmy Eat World, Ludo, My American Heart and more rocking the Scion main stage and the best in San Diego local bands hitting the Revolt side stage, this is THE premiere concert to be at in 2008!

The show is on May 16 at "Concerts on the Green at Qualcomm Stadium" which I suppose means the practice field in the Q's parking lot. I'll dig for more info as it is available.

THIS LINEUP IS OK, but 45 is way too much.

I remember the first X-Fest, way back in '83: Tom Petty (why, I don't know), the Stray Cats, the Ramones, the Flirts, Modern English and one other band (I forget who it was). It was weird seeing the Ramones and the Stray Cats at a huge outdoor venue. I was 17 years old.

Shitty, shitty headliners. What, are we back in 1995 or something? Don't promote this $45 crap. RUBBISH!!!
"The cutting edge or lame" more like it. Pass.

You know what? It's shows like this that made me move back to the states. Can't wait to see The Offspring!

Maybe they should change the name of their concert to "91X Bro-fest". With all of the Ticketmaster service charges, it adds up to almost $58 for a ticket. Plus, I'll bet parking at Qualcomm is going to be at least $15 or more. Yikes!

John: The missing band in 1983 was The Flirts; one hit wonders with "Don't put another dime in the jukebox." It was my first concert; I was 15. It was at Jack Murphy Stadium (What Qualcomm stadium used to be called.)
