More Things To Do This Weekend: Nighttime Zoo, La Jolla Festival of the Arts, OB Street Fair

Nighttime Zoo kicks of this weekend with a party hosted by San Diego's Jack FM. Last year they gave away free tickets; sorry if I missed that, but you have an annual pass anyway, right? If not, pick one up. If you have a student ID, they are cheap. cheap. cheap. and the Zoo, with parking always free, is a great thing to do when you have no money to do anything else. Plus...they sell beer in the park. I'm not encouraging bringing your own (except that I guess I am implicitly endorsing the idea).

From Jack FM:

What: KFMB's Night Out at the San Diego Zoo
When: 06.28.08 at 04:00 pm
Where: San Diego Zoo
Web: More Information
Its summer time in sunny San Diego and that means the nights come alive at the San Diego Zoo's Nightime Zoo. Its an annual summertime event and KFMB Stations along with Frazee Paint, want to bring you and your families and friends together Saturday June 28, 2008 at 4pm for KFMB's Night Out at the San Diego Zoo to experience Fiesta continuing every evening through Sept 1, 2008.

Also, this weekend, there's the La Jolla Festival of the Arts. Personally, I'm of the belief that festivals should be free, but this one is a charity event that supports recreational and educational programs for people with disabilities, so your $12 will be spent well.

From their site:

The Festival hosts over 190 award-winning local and national artists displaying watercolors, oils, sculpture, serigraphs, fine jewelry, photography, and more. Event attendees can also enjoy a variety of cuisines in the festival food area, listen to live entertainment, participate in special events, and stimulate young minds in a dedicated children's area with interactive booths.

There's a $2 discount if you go to the site, and admission is free to active military (and one guest). The festival runs Saturday & Sunday, from 9a-5pm, at Regents Road & Gennessee.

Last, this weekend is the OB Street Fair & Chili Cookoff. The fair lasts all day Saturday, from 10a-8p. There are 5 music stages. For schedule, click here.
