Sonic Youth Perform Daydream Nation

I don't normally post LA shows because (1) it would turn this blog into a fulltime non paying job and (2) I don't go to LA for shows due to the lack of a reliable vehicle and the responsibility of finding someone to watch my dog. But a reader e-mailed me about this show, so I dug a little and have this info for you:

Sonic Youth, July 20 Los Angeles, CA Greek Theatre Performing Daydream Nation:

Sonic Youth's 1988 album Daydream Nation has been added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress. Daydream Nation now joins Emile Berliner's 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man' by Muddy Waters (among other recordings) in the collection mandated by Congress 'to maintain and preserve sound recordings and collections of sound recordings that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.'

Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation will be issued by Geffen Records in a two-disc Deluxe Edition with bonus tracks, new liner notes, and unseen band photos on June 12, 2007 and on a super-special 4-disc vinyl set issued by the band's own Goofin' Records.

Celebrating the re-release of Daydream Nation, the band will perform the entire album live at several select shows in North America and Europe.

Tickets are available on ticketmaster.com now.
