Jacob Faust Memorial Activities

I am reposting the following info verbatim because I believe in the cause. If you do too, consider attending some of the activities posted at the bottom of this post. There is also a great article in CityBeat if you'd like to know more.

Jake was 25 years old when his life ended at the hands of San Diego Police Officers Stephen Holliday and Brian Keaton in the early morning hours of April 4, 2005. Following a left-hand turn against a posted sign, he was pulled over and detained. Nearly half an hour later three shots were fired into him at close range as he sat in his van, one of them with deadly accuracy going directly through his heart and lungs. Facts gathered from police records and witness statements have left more unanswered questions than ever before about what really happened that night. Not one of the many witnesses to the shooting corroborated the police version of events: No struggle was seen or heard; no pepper spray was used. The police did not follow procedure; they tampered with the crime scene before investigators arrived. Jacob's fingerprints were not on the toy gun officers claimed was in his hand.

In spite of the fact that he cooperated with the police and that Jacob was a known pacifist and had no criminal record, he was falsely portrayed by the police to the media as someone who could certainly have been a public threat.

Jacob’s death was described by the San Diego homicide detectives as, "A series of unfortunate events that happened too quickly."

As his family was told would be the case, the San Diego District Attorney found the shooting justified. Her office did not look at actual witness statements and was not concerned with the extreme contraindication that exists in the police record of events. Having the DA's office investigate the police, particularly in this city where blatant corruption seems to be
the status quo, is rather pointless. They will always find for their own; they are on the same team.

Some of the art work hanging on the walls of Gelato Vero was found among the
personal effects held in "evidence" by the San Diego Police Department for
almost 11 months following his death before finally being released to his
family.

The 2nd Annual FAUST FEST presents this show in loving memory of Jacob Faust and demanding accountability of the City of San Diego and its police department in the shooting of unarmed citizens.

If you can’t attend the events, but would like to donate some money, checks
