Personal Bloggy Stuff: Family Vacation in Lake Tahoe

A lot of people asked where I was last week, so I thought I would post a couple pics from my trip with my family to Lake Tahoe. I'm also doing it for my family because anytime something happened throughout the trip or a picture was snapped, they would ask me "is this gonna go on your blog?"

I had not been to Lake Tahoe in several years but managed to find a cheap flight so I took it. Despite the hassle of getting a ride to the airport and the burden I put on my friends to watch my pets, it was a good weekend. The first night I got there, the casino bar was right outta PB because there was some huge snowboard competition all week, but I ignored all the "dude!" and "bro!" talk and just gambled while consuming comped cocktails.

I also noticed across the street that local boys done good, Greyboy Allstars, were playing a few days after my trip would end. Before you mock a band playing a casino, I'll tell you that they were playing two nights and the average ticket was $40. God, anybody remember Greyboy back in the day at Green Circle Bar? I used to sneak in through the kitchen when I was 16. Show me a club like that again and maybe you'd get me shakin my ass.

Friday we drove the 72 mile drive around the lake in search of bicycle rentals, shopping, and picturesque photo moments. I made everyone listen to Vega4 and Silversun Pickups around the lake, figuring it was mellow enough for a drive but not too mellow that the driver would snooze...

That's a pic of the girls: My God sister Caudia, my mom, my pregnant sister, and my cousin in the back next to me.

I like this one because we caught the lake in the background.

We did eventually find bike rentals near the south shore of the lake in an area called Camp Richardson and we proceeded to ride right into the only rain we experienced the whole trip. It was cool though, because there are private beaches that are only accessible by walking or biking, so it was pretty neat to see things I'd never seen before on all the many trips we've taken here in my lifetime when we used to come twice a year all the way through high school.

Anyway, the rest of the weekend involved lots of eating, drinking, gambling, etc... Saturday we stopped in Truckee on our way to the airport in Reno, where there's a small historical district for shopping and touristy stuff. My sister and I scored travel vouchers for bumping our flight back half an hour, so basically my flight was free. I was bummed to have missed Friday night at the Ken Club, but hopefully those of you who partied at my house afterward with Andrea had fun for me. I decided to stay in the rest of the weekend, staying in Saturday night, and then watching the new HBO shows on Sunday after a day of cleaning and getting my life back in order. I am definitely refreshed for a full week of shows ahead. See you all out on the town...

Good to see what you were doing instead of being at the Ken. You and your fam are super cute.

And I'd gladly take care of your pets anytime... ;-)

Oh, I forgot to mention the absence of my father and uncle from these pictures...they stuck back at the casino to gamble.

The casino gives a bottle of wine with every same-suited blackjack. My dad came home with two cases. Have I mentioned how much I love my daddy?

So when's the wine party at the 'rent's? You can have your own May Day festival in their backyard. Hmmm. That's not a bad idea...

No wine party, they're saving it for the baby shower in June. Actually worked out quite perfect, dontcha think?
