Wednesday Newsy Bits

I know I'm way slow on this, but selfishly, I wanted to make sure I got my tickets before I posted about it, but FM 94/9 is having a "Big Day Out" on April 21. Here's their info:

FM 94/9's Day Out is happening on Saturday, April 21st!!

Here's the schedule of the day and some special instructions regarding the evening
broadcast which is an Insiders Only secret show!

10am - 2pm
Garett live from House of Blues
Live music from The Prayers and The Bloody Hollies

2pm - 6pm
Halloran is live from The Belly Up Tavern (21+ w/ ID)
Live music from The Hi-Lites and Diego Roots

6pm - 10pm
FM 94/9 Day Out's Secret Show
Boomer live from 4th & B (21+ w/ ID)
Live music from ¡Society! and a secret surprise guest!
The "secret surprise guest" is playing Coachella, is someone "only few people in San Diego have seen", and someone who probably "won't be playing an intimate venue like 4th & B again". I would also consider who they are playing with(¡Society!). Oh, and Halloran said I won't be disappointed, so I guarantee it's not Red Hot Chili Peppers. (Ha!) Start your guessing. If it's Stephen Marley or Amy Winehouse, then Hal, you're wrong...I would be disappointed.

I could really piss off my friends over at 94/9 (who think this blog is irrelevant) and post the link to the coupon for the 4th & B show, but you should really be an Insider. Go sign up here.

I have some good news for people who either live or work downtown. After securing my Big Day Out tickets at House of Blues, I was walking to Horton Plaza and passed a business license application in the window of a storefront on Broadway between 5th & 6th Avenues. The license was for a Fuddruckers. Maybe this excites only me, but I grew up in Chula Vista and Fuddruckers was the hang out (along with the park next to it on 3rd Ave.) so it brings back some good memories, and a location downtown is one less reason for me to drive into the pit of Mission Valley. Yay.

NME.com is reporting that in addition to the Rage Against the Machine reunion shows scheduled, Tom Morello and Zach de la Rocha will be playing a free show in Chicago on April 14 at the 2007 Coalition of Immokalee Workers Truth Tour.

In sad news, the house that Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash lived in from the 60s until their recent passing in 2003 has been destroyed by fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.

That's the news today. Recap of happy hour at the W and Roxy Jones, Nurses, and Maps and Atlases to come....
